Was listening to the '50s channel on XM rdio yesterday. Song played
about a Nash Rambler overtaking a cadillac at 120mph. The driver of the
Rambler leans out and says, "hey buddy how do I get this car out of
second gear"?

I'm looking for amp suggestions for a moderate priced amp installation.
Something in the 25-40 watts x 4 (4ohms) range, clean and dependable.

amps...but things have changed quite a bit since then. Also, I've ...

I want to build a new enclosure, and do it right. So...
- Does it matter which face of the enclosure the drivers and ports are
on?  On my current box, the ports are on the opposite face as the
drivers.  An installer here says the drivers and ports should go on the

Opinion on Alpine CDA-985724 Oct 2006 20:17 GMT65
I've got a 2002 Pathfinder, and when I got it, I had my Denon DCT-970

The DCT-970 had two shortcomings from the start: 1) alternator whine

Question To All Alpine 9853 Owners.....24 Oct 2006 19:43 GMT15
Dzeq and I have been hashing this out, but I'm curious to hear from others.
We can't seem to get our 9853's subwoofer output to change from stereo (the
default setting) to mono.

Replacing OEM headunit in '05 Ford Explorer24 Oct 2006 18:11 GMT7
I'm thinking of replacing the headunit in my '05 Ford Explorer.  I
don't have the $$ now to go with a separate amp so the HU will drive
the four OEM 5x7/6x8 door mounted speakers, and I want the OEM sub and
it's OEM amp to be driven by preamp output of the HU, so it should have

Flash in the dash: make it happen!24 Oct 2006 02:36 GMT18
With all the hype over Zunes and iPods, why is it so hard to make a car
head-unit with a removable flash card or hard-drive? I can't think of a
better way to implement car stereo. CD-Rs don't hold enough songs for a
massive collection, and both CD-Rs and DVDs are cumbersome to ...

help with three subs23 Oct 2006 04:03 GMT29
So I got a custom box(for free) that fits 3 10" subs. The subs are
going to be the sony xplod 10's, and I was wondering if there is a way
to wire them so that I have stereo from two subs, and mono from the
middle? Is it possible to do it all with only one amp? Thanks.

I've had an Eclipse unit the past 6 years (can't recall model..had the
5v preamp outputs) and it has served me well but I want the ipod
