I drove on a very damaged portion of the road today, and the the sound
of the CD player started having problems. Suddenly smoke came out of
the player for about 10 seconds. I removed the face of the CD player.

I was just wondering, what are the advantages and disadvantages of
having a sub that, instead of putting it in a enclosure you just free
aired it? Is this simply for ppl that cant afford a box and decide to
just put a sub in the back or is there any advantages to it?
