Clutch Problem  -  89 Escort31 Oct 2004 20:26 GMT4
I had a new clutch fitted on my 1989 Escort in the last few days.  The
previous clutch had clearly worn and was slipping considerably.
However, the new clutch is causing problems.  When engaging 1st gear
the biting point is miniscule and difficult to control, and regardless
Floor jack rebuild31 Oct 2004 09:23 GMT6
A friend of mine game me a 2.5 ton wilmar w1634 floor jack. Very nice really
solid but only goes up about half way.
I opened the fill hole and tried to add fluid but it was already full.
Anybody know where I can get parts for it? what about a tear down diagram?
improvised in-car lighting31 Oct 2004 06:54 GMT18
I want to install a new powerful light inside my car, far more
powerful than anything the dome lights provide. one thought that hit
me was to use the low-voltage (12v) halogen lamps available for track
lighting. my questions-
Mazda Protege 2002 High RPM jerking31 Oct 2004 02:57 GMT3
I noticed today a problem with my car. When accelerating, the engine
starts jerking at around 5500 RPM. The jerk comes from the engine and
it feels like the engine cutoff is engaging and disengaging rapidly (2
or 3 times per seconds). But the engine keeps running faster (I tried
1992 Olds 88  water pump31 Oct 2004 00:46 GMT1
I got a '92 Olds 88 and I need to change the water pump.  There are two
bolts that go through the motor mount.  I can't get a socket wrench in
there to loosen them.  Please don't tell me I have to pull the motor, just
to get the water pump out!  I can get the socket on, just can't ...

My current auto tire size is 195/60/R15, I have snow tires from my
last auto 195/65/R15 they are in good shape, can I use them??
Would cheap gas cause "Service Engine Soon" light?30 Oct 2004 23:07 GMT7
I have a 99 Maxima. I've been using the recommended 91 gas always.
However due to the recent high gas price, I decided to try the cheaper
gas.
After about 3 refills, just yesterday, my "Service Engine Soon" light
clutch questions30 Oct 2004 20:17 GMT4
OK, so I toasted the clutch in my Stude last weekend.  Was going to have
to come apart sooner or later anyway as the throwout bearing was
sounding dry, so I'm not real broken up about it.  But anyway, here come
the questions...
How do you remove a hub?30 Oct 2004 20:04 GMT4
Am I doing this wrong? I attempted to check my rear brake shoes on a 94
Beretta. I removed the 5 lugbolts and pulled the tire/wheel off. I then grabbed
the hub and attempted to pull it off, but it would not budge. I used a hammer
to tap around the edges of the hub, but no luck in ...

Manual transmission vehicle?30 Oct 2004 07:00 GMT2
I am looking for a mid-90's reliable vehicle with a manual.
I narrowed down my choices to Subaru Legacy with 2.2L,
Mazda 626, probably with V6.
I also like full size GM cars like LeSabre but I fear their

99 Altima-Trouble adjusting idle29 Oct 2004 23:14 GMT3
I've suspected my 99 Altima has been idling too fast since I got it, but
haven't been able to test or adjust it properly.  I now have the factory
service manual (won't ever buy a Haynes again!) and a proper digital timing
light+tach, and I was able to follow the procedure in the ...
Sticking valves29 Oct 2004 20:00 GMT6
Well, I think my rough cold-start issue made itself more apparent today.
Today I was clearly able to hear valve ticking for the first time, which
made the other things that were going on a bit more obvious and simple to
explain - a valve is sticking.
Ford braking systems?29 Oct 2004 18:18 GMT11
Seems that Ford uses the power steering pump to provide the braking
boost for the 2000 Mustang.  I also checked the other one which is a
1999 and it has the same problem.  We didn't know about it until the
other day my brother was driving to school and the belt tensioner broke.
