Toyota Supra with no Acceleration11 Oct 2004 21:39 GMT5
I have a 1989 Toyota Supra with Turbo that has lost its acceleration.
It didn't happen gradually either,  one night I came home and parked
it the next morning it was running like junk.  It literally has the
acceleration of a moped.  At first I thought it might has been an

This is either an example of "quality French engineering" or "quality
French driving."  Too bad it wasn't an Audi.

Help chosing vehicle11 Oct 2004 21:17 GMT2
We have our second child coming and I am thinking of selling my 90
Mustang and 89 F-150 to get something I can drive and take the kids if
I want. (Know we go in my wife's 99 Malibu).
I drive about 50 miles a day during the week. I have been thinking of
changing tire size?11 Oct 2004 20:50 GMT2
The tires on my '95 Berretta are 195 70R 14. I have available a pair of new 185
70R 14s. Can I use them on my car? If so, what downside is there? Thanks.
Heater Core Brands/Sources?11 Oct 2004 20:40 GMT3
Are there any particular brands or sources of heater cores that have a
good or bad reputation? ACDelco? NAPA? Autozone? etc...?
(in my case it's an early 70s GM w/ a copper heater)
Cadillac-early to mid 90's-any congenital problems?11 Oct 2004 18:55 GMT3
Ok--here's the deal--my wife will be working in and around Laughlin NV for a
while and we need to get a car she can use there and leave at the airport
when she's back here. She wants leather...it has to have max A/C...I want it
to be around $4000 since it's a temporary car...

been driving another car and let this one be used by a family member
so I dont know exactly how long its been this bad. I do know that it
has a hard time idiling it runs like when your in 3rd gear in a manual
Break in Oil?11 Oct 2004 18:42 GMT57
All--
In my new '96 Subauru Outback, the owner's manual said the car came
with break-in oil, that had to be changed at 500 miles.
My new 2004 Nissan Frontier, which I just picked up *today* (my
Can electric choke coil be re-adjusted?11 Oct 2004 18:41 GMT9
On my 1976 Cadillac DeVille, 500 CI, there's an electric choke coil that may
have seen better days. I replaced it maybe around 15 years ago (and still have
the original one in case I would need it).
The car starts fine, and runs fine when warmed up, but driving away from a cold
Completely weird battery question11 Oct 2004 16:32 GMT7
My battery died last week and has been riding around in my trunk
since.  In the last two days I've noticed the distinct smell of
pickles(!) when getting into my car.
Do lead-acid batteries have something in common with pickles?
Possible Transmission Issue 88 Mercury Grand Marquis11 Oct 2004 11:27 GMT7
Yeah it's an old car, so of course if there are transmissions issues that
shouldn't be a surprise due to its age.
Anyway.
It has about 150,000 miles on it, the behavior I've noticed is this.
rust over rear wheels11 Oct 2004 09:37 GMT1
I recently bought a 1990 Nissan pickup. The only thing wrong with it is rust
over the rear wheels. Body shops in town will not charge much to weld in new
metal and repaint. I cannot find panels, though. I think the truck will go
many more miles, so I don't mind investing some money ...
oil viscosity11 Oct 2004 07:30 GMT3
I have looked in several newsgroupa and found different explanations about
which oil viscosity to use and why. While most people say to "stick to the
manufacturer's recommendations," someone brought up a point that seems
valid.
Finding Vacuum Leak?11 Oct 2004 05:06 GMT7
I think I have a vacuum leak on my 93 Ford Ranger. It seems to bleed off
over a period of 3 or 4 hours...I can tell from the brakes. It used to hold
vacuum overnight, at least.
I've looked at the lines under the hood and they all look OK. Is there
75 Chevy Pickup - Heater Control Valve?11 Oct 2004 00:55 GMT1
Is it supposed to have one?
The previous owner installed a manual ball valve on the water line leading
to the heater core. I've had the truck for years and and lived with this by
simply deciding if I wanted the heater before I drove the truck and turn the
