battery tradeoff: CCA vs reserve capacity?17 Nov 2004 23:22 GMT5
According to a flyer for Toyota car batteries, there's a
direct tradeoff b/n CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and RC (Reserve Capacity).
They're implying that (somehow) these two attributes are built into
different areas of the battery.
Power steering fluid loss17 Nov 2004 19:53 GMT3
I have a 2002 Kia Rio with 28,000 miles. I've had to fill the power
steering reservoir up two times in the past 5 months. The weird thing
is that there is no visible sign of loss anywhere. The car is garaged
and there is no leakage on the floor. Inspecting the underside of the

Can the differential create car-shaking vibration?16 Nov 2004 19:37 GMT10
My car, when it reaches about 25 MPH in any gear, begins to vibrate
horrendously. My mechanic says its a worn differential and that I would
basically have to rebuild the entire car front to back to fix it.
HOWEVER...I looked in my Toyota service manual and the Haynes manual and

Minus Size Winter Tires ?16 Nov 2004 00:32 GMT15
I read an article on TireRack about using minus one size winter tires.
   http://www.tirerack.com/winter/tech/sizing.html
I have a 2004 Honda Accord with recommended tire sizes 205/60/16 or
205/65/15.  I'm looking at getting a 195/65/15 Pirelli package, which
How hot should a resistor block get?15 Nov 2004 23:07 GMT2
I replaced mine on a 93 Altima and one of the solder joints failed after
10mins. I resoldered and now it works but gets almost too hot to touch after
2 mins. Possibly there is a short in the circuit? The motor seems to run
fine on all speeds. Shouldn't the fuse blow first?
Geo Metro questions15 Nov 2004 16:59 GMT4
A friend of my girlfriend has a 1996 Geo Metro. She recently took an
unexpected off road excursion in it. We've replaced 2 bent wheels on
the thing. But I also need to check the alignment and possibly check
for unibody/"frame" damage.
Finding Electrical Drain15 Nov 2004 12:23 GMT7
I'm trying to help my son, who is about 1000 miles away, find an electrical
gremlin in his '90 Talon. (I know, I know, what was he thinking?)
Symptoms:
When he stops the car and leaves it idle for, say 8 hours, he comes back to

tearing the car interior appart.

Discolored differential oil15 Nov 2004 04:41 GMT1
I was checking fluid levels under my 4x4 yesterday and noticed that the
rear differential fluid was discolored, nearly black.  What would be a
likely cause of this?  The fluids in the front differential and transfer
case were still amber after many years, so this seems unusual.  The ...
