Do Fuel Tank Additives (Techron) Work?23 Dec 2004 01:48 GMT2
Hi All: Just wondering if anyone has ever proven that these fuels
additives at the automotive stores really work. I tried using Techron
and it seems odd that this little  amount of fluid diluted with a tank
of fuel is going to do anything at all.  I also recall that there are

I noticed this weekend that my 1999 Buick Century is developing the
classic symptons of Piston Slapping (ticking noise when cold ... goes

Is 15000 mile maintenance necessary?22 Dec 2004 22:02 GMT2
I've heard from a friend that 15000 mile maintenance is not really
necessary. You only need to do regular oil change/maintenance and
30,000 mile maintenances. He said 15000 mile maintenance is just a way
for dealers to get money out of you that's not that necessary. (well

I have a Quick Question...I have a 1993 Ford Taurus GL (3.8 Ltr V6 with
a Automatic Transmission) What should I expect to pay roughly to have
the Engine swapped out with a rebuilt engine that I would most likely
obtain from ATK or Jasper.

Why did this fix work? 22 Dec 2004 19:12 GMT26
One morning in  the winter, several years ago when I lived in Ontario,
Canada, my Maza pickup truck would not start. The fix? Putting a
stronger anti-freeze solution into the cooling system. I know why it
worked. Can anyone guess the reason?
Most automobiles are made of CHEAP materials !!!!!22 Dec 2004 18:57 GMT33
The automobile companies are a bunch of gangsters who want that the
automobiles die after a few years.
Oldtimers are much more reliable than all the modern rubbish which is
made of cheap plastics !
Very medicore mech reliability JD Power scores for 2001 Audi A6?22 Dec 2004 12:35 GMT4
I am considering buying a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T with the 6 speed.
I was kind of stunned when I saw that JD Power gave the 2001 model a
score of 2 for mechanical reliability in the midterm (1-3 yrs) time
frame.  This is the lowest score they show, lumping it in with "the
2000 Accord coolant drain plug location22 Dec 2004 00:59 GMT1
The shop manual for our 2000 Accord 4 cyl shows a block coolant drain plug
under and to the left (facing toward) of the oil filter.  But the only plugs
I see are the engine oil drain plug, and a 10mm allen head bolt directly
under the filter.  Could it be the allen head bolt, or do ...

95 Camry Won't Start21 Dec 2004 20:52 GMT1
The car was working with no problems. It then sat in the garage for 2
days, until I backed it into the driveway, where it sat another day. It
started with no problems when I backed it up. A freeze came in that
night if that is relevant.
Questions About Acura RL AWD Claim21 Dec 2004 20:03 GMT11
I was watching TV last night and after one of the short
breaks to show programming I became interested in an Acura
commercial for the RL sedan. In the commercial the claim was
made that the AWD system "accelerates the outside rear wheel
2000 Contour miss and Check Engine21 Dec 2004 19:54 GMT4
A little puzzled by this one.  A miss problem that I thought I had fixed
came back.

a miss with an intermittent Check Engine Light.  I took it to the local
