Does Velocity Performance Module work?30 Apr 2005 06:35 GMT3
I just saw on Ebay an ad (link below) for a "Velocity Performance
Module" for about $25.  It reads as if it reprograms your ECU (PCM?) similar
to what HyperTech's $300 system does.  Anyone had experience with one of
these systems?
switching to a synthetic motor oil30 Apr 2005 04:06 GMT18
I have a friend who was thinking about switching from conventional motor
oil to a synthetic blend. He has a 2000 chevy pickup, 55K miles and
doesn't use any oil.
I didn't think it was a good idea, but wasn't sure if it would cause any
drivetrain vibration revisited30 Apr 2005 01:29 GMT8
Copy of post to alt.autos.studebaker, just an update on my earlier issue
- thanks for the ideas guys, I am hoping that all my problems are
stemming from sagging rear springs.

Requesting help to identify diagnostic tools30 Apr 2005 00:13 GMT1
I recently received a 'grab bag' of stuff from a friend that's moving
out of state and didn't want to bother packing it. It contained two
automotive diagnostic tools that I'd appreciate more information on.
1. A Mac Tools ET120. It looks to be a powered circuit tester with
Why two upstream O2 sensors?29 Apr 2005 14:12 GMT1
What's the rationale of having 2 upstream (fuel/air mix control) O2 sensors
instead of one? Some cars with 5+ liter engines have only one, others with
3.x have two. Does that imply there is asymetrical air flow to cylinders?

Can harmonic ballancer be welded?29 Apr 2005 07:56 GMT3
My harmonic balancer must have been a bit loose at some point; On changing
the timing belt, I noticed that the keyway is chewed up where the woodruff
key should engage.
Normally I would pick up a used one from a junkyard, but this car is too
Keyless entry problem29 Apr 2005 05:11 GMT1
I have a '99 Toyota Camry LE and I'm having a problem with the keyless
entry.
The trunk and alarm buttons do not work at all, and the unlock will
only work if I have already manually unlocked the driver's door.  Also,
oem or aftermarket cr. control-diy install-tacoma-99?29 Apr 2005 05:08 GMT1
Have a 99 toyota tacoma( (2.4-4) - a recent purchase that I'd like to put a
cr. control in. I note that there is a genuine toyota part available online
(about $250 us) and rostra controls has one available as well.  I'm guessing
that the toyota part would be straightforward vs the ...
tire wear, one wheel only?29 Apr 2005 02:47 GMT10
After we bought (privately) our ('99) Cavalier, we found that it had
been "totalled" earlier in its life.  Alas.  Mostly, this hasn't been
a problem.  However, the LF tire has excessive tread wear on the
inside corner - to the point of needing replacement after ~15K miles.
GARAGE/PARKING IN NYC e.g. Brooklyn, Manhattan, all boroughs28 Apr 2005 18:06 GMT1
Hey I use $130/month Bayridge Municipal garage on 86 street @ 5th Avenue
(BAYRIDGE, Brooklyn), cheap!. If too far from you, the reason I post is
because YOU can find another Municipal garage in your area by going to DOT

Small hole in  gas tank filler pipe.28 Apr 2005 04:30 GMT5
How can one repair a small hole in the gas tank filler pipe?
There is a square rubber gasket when you look under the
vehicle that circles the pipe where it comes through the inside
of the fender.I guess this gasket is to prevent muck from getting
Diesel vs. Gasoline - why one preferred over another??27 Apr 2005 22:53 GMT43
Know nothing of cars (electrical person) - used public transportation all my
life.
Why is that 95% of passenger cars in the US are gasoline, yet diesel used in
much of Europe?  I read somewhere diesel is more efficient, plus unlike gas
Ford Motorcraft Motor Oil27 Apr 2005 19:31 GMT19
Is Ford Motorcraft Motor Oil any good?  I know of no one that uses it.  I
looked at a bottle tonight and my interest was sparked when I read on the
front that it is a "PREMIUM SYNTHETIC BLEND" and saw the price of $2 per
bottle.  On the back it says...
2003 Impala LS inlet hose.27 Apr 2005 19:04 GMT3
Anyone know where the heater inlet hose is on the 2003 Impala LS?  I
want to flush the radiator but with out knowing where that hose is I
can't splice on the flush kit.
Here is a picture of the two hoses in the back of the engine.  I think
