The problem may be in the wires. There are a lot of small wires that exit the harness and then are subject to vibration fatigue. There are also several connectors exposed to the elements, the worse being those in close proximity to the battery and its acid vapor.

97 Astro Cargo Van, the heater control vent selector doesnt work, only blows to defrost and a little out of the lower vent, no madder which selection its on. Blower works fine, and it seems to work on AC and heat, but cannot adust the vents. Problem? Your comments are

I recently discovered that the air conditioning in my 92 Pontiac Bonneville is no longer working. I unhooked the plug going to the compressor and verified that one of the terminals (it's a two-terminal plug) has +12v on it when I turn on the AC inside the car.
