air conditioning09 Jun 2005 05:15 GMT4
I purchased a 2005 Hundai Accent with a built-in air conditioner. This
is the first time in my life that I ever drove a car with an air
conditioner. My question is this: Suppose my car has been parked for
five hours. If I turn on my air-conditioner one minute after starting
Stripped threads in carburetor09 Jun 2005 04:55 GMT20
I have a 1981 F-150 with 302 motor and automatic transmission. Bought it a
few months ago from a guy whose condo association made him get rid of it.
The fuel filter is the sort that screws into the carburetor. While
replacing it I managed to damage the threads in the carburetor ...
2000 Baravada ball joints replacement problems09 Jun 2005 03:20 GMT2
I have a 2000 Bravada with bad upper and lower ball joints. We jacked
the vehicle from the frame behind the door and supported it on the
lower control arm. Starting first on the driver side we next removed
the caliper and bracket that holds the brake pads. The caliper was tied
Opinions---Jaguar08 Jun 2005 23:55 GMT19
A family member just bought a 1999 Jaguar.  It is the Vanden Plaz signature,
but I am not sure
what else it is.  Says it is a straight 6 cylinder.  Has 40,000 miles and
paid less than $15,000.
Question about Toyota timing-belt repair08 Jun 2005 23:52 GMT13
Hello. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry LE. The engine is a 2.2-L, 4-cylinder
engine.
The car is, obviously, about 7 years old. However, the car has only
28000 miles on it.
Trouble shifting into Reverse08 Jun 2005 23:42 GMT20
I have an '03 Toyota Camry 4-cyl. (a made in Japan model) with 5-speed
manual tranny. Has about 30K (most of it highway).
Recently it has been more and more likely to be reluctant to shift into
reverse. Having driving manuals for 30+ years, I know most of the
Air conditioning vs DRL08 Jun 2005 20:42 GMT40
At one point, it was suggested that disabling DRL's was a fuel saving issue,
and calculations
show that for a large numbers of cars and miles driven, there is a finite
savings in fuel.  This
GM to cut 25000 jobs08 Jun 2005 16:15 GMT6
http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/07/news/fortune500/gm_closings/index.htm?cnn=yes
Looks like GM has accepted the beginning of the end for the mass producer of
junk cars.  Ford is next.
1988 Oldsmobile 2.5L TBI 192,000 mi, Stalling, Runs Rich?08 Jun 2005 11:14 GMT4
I am sick of this problem with my car. It has gradually gotten worse
over the past few months. I don't know if all the events are related,
but here they are.
It started with the cruise control just turning off for no apparent
86 escort diesel starting08 Jun 2005 06:23 GMT5
I have this 86 Ford escort diesel.
I've replaced the starter for the second time. I also replaced both the
starter solenoid, and the "solenoid" on the firewall.
I drove the car for awhile, and left it parked for awhile. I came back
Whistling noise when accelerating08 Jun 2005 04:32 GMT1
It's my 2001 Chev Impala, 50K.
Just beginning a couple of weeks ago, I can hear some kind of noise like
whistling in the front when stepping on gas to gain speed, especially on
highways.
96 Subaru Outback--antifreeze on ground07 Jun 2005 20:37 GMT3
I thought it was the upper radiator hose, but there are no leaks from
there.  When the 96 Subaru Outback (178K miles) sits for several hours
I find antifreeze/coolant on the ground, below the engine towards the
pax side.  Water pump?  Can I still drive it to a mechanic?  How far?

Have any of you seen a brake proportioning valve fail?07 Jun 2005 16:41 GMT12
I was asked to look at a problem that I find a bit confusing.  The guy
has a 92 Chrysler Lebaron.  Several months ago he noticed a tendency
for one of the front calipers to "lock up" after the brakes were
applied.  Apparently it was so bad that the wheel would start smoking
Burning Lean = more heat? 07 Jun 2005 15:24 GMT26
I understand why burning rich reduces combustion temperatures.  I don't
understand why burning lean increases combustion temps.  Web and usenet
google searches haven't turned up much, and there is a lot of contradictory
theories.
