What is a good spark plug? In terms of performance. Function of spark plug is to give a spark to air+fuel mixture. If a $.99 spark plug is doing its job, giving a spark, then why use an expensive one?

My cousin has a 92 isuzu rodeo (v6) that failed the california emissions test in the NO reading. The numbers were a bit worse at the low speed reading than the higher speed check. What should be checked under the hood . The cat was replaced a couple of yrs ago with a generic cat.

1985 Toyota Corolla, 245K miles. For several years, it's been running cold (i.e. no heat, temperature gauge at 8 o'clock.) in the winter. More recently, it also runs hot (temperature gauge at 10 o'clock)
