Dwell does not go down03 Aug 2005 14:22 GMT15
I have a problem with my car. I hooked up a dwell meter and noticed my dwell
was at 55. Book says 41. Regapped it to 0.012  dwell as still 55. Went out
got a new set of point and regapped it 52. Played around with it and went
from 0.006 to 0.026 and it was always between 51-55
Dex Cool03 Aug 2005 01:47 GMT2
I understand that Dex Cool has had some problems. My question is, is the
Prestone 5/150 (orange) the same formula and does it have the same problems?
Any thoughts or halucinations about this ??

Brand New Battery Not Used:  Why Dead After 1 Month ?02 Aug 2005 23:18 GMT8
Installed a brand new battery in my car, but then unexpectedly had to
be out of town for about a month.
Battery was totally dead when we returned.
Was wondering:  what kind of "life" can one expect for a brand new battery
Engine clatter when cold or sitting for a few minutes02 Aug 2005 21:57 GMT1
I'm back with my 1985 Corolla, RWD, 1.6L SOHC...
Car drives fine, has adequate power when it's cold. However, it makes a
racket when its cold or has been sitting for about 10 or more minutes,
even if it's warm. The noise increases with throttle application, and
Flamers02 Aug 2005 21:22 GMT3
The email address of each poster is shown at the top of the message.
Why do flamers send such responses to the whole list- why can't they
just reply to the person one on one.
Or, do they mistakenly think that the rest of us admire them for making
93 Aerostar 3.0L: Freon Valve Location?02 Aug 2005 15:02 GMT5
My 93 Aerostar air conditioner is cooling but not as good as it used
to.  Hopefully, I've just lost a little freon over the years and the
165,000 miles.  I have a couple of small cans of R-12, along with a
simple (no gauges) charging kit but I just wanted to make sure which
What is my A/C problem02 Aug 2005 13:24 GMT4
The short version: My return line is frosting, the A/C is worthless.
The long version:
The car is a 1989 Jeep Cherokee, well maintained. Five years ago when I
bought it, the R-12 needed a topping up. This summer it was at that
Elektor OBD2 Analyser02 Aug 2005 04:52 GMT3
There's a backgrounder on OBD and a DIY OBD-2 Analyser in this month's
Elektor Electronics magazine, see www.elektor-electronics.co.uk
Nice design, supports five standards, with good software support.
Apparently Elektor are also selling a kit. I want one.
Battery goes flat quickly01 Aug 2005 21:29 GMT3
My car battery seems to go flat quickly. If I do not use my car
for 2 weeks then it will not start. Also, if I leave it with the
tiny map light on, it goes flat overnight (Not even enough juice
left for one crank). What might be causing this?
Electric fuel pump question01 Aug 2005 20:02 GMT2
Hi all. I am getting a car ready for a demolition derby. Usually I run
something older with a chevy 350, but due to time constraints I am
stripping out a 89 mercury Grand Marquis with a 5.0. It runs and drives,
so it won't take long to get ready. Anyway, I am having trouble figuring
Super low MPG in 91 Toyota Tercel01 Aug 2005 07:58 GMT2
I'm getting around 20-21 MPG in my 1991 Toyota Tercel.  I bought the
car 4 months ago and it promptly blew a head gasket.  I replaced it,
had the head resurfaced, put in tons of new seals (incl. the valve stem
seals) and did everything correctly when reassembling the engine.  It

Motorsilk (Boron CLS) or Engine Restore with CSL, any experience with these?01 Aug 2005 03:25 GMT1
I realize that most additives are snake oil and do nothing. However, I
have heard good things about the Engine Restore stuff. Does anyone have
any experience with either of these?
Thanx!
Stick Shift Puzzle01 Aug 2005 03:03 GMT11
I have a Grand Cherokee (1994) with 70K on it.  It's one of the last
stick shift Grand Cherokees made, and I've owned it since it was new.
I've developed a shimmy in the drive train that feels like the engine
and transmission want to fall out of the vehicle.  It's so bad that
accessing trouble code saturn ion 200301 Aug 2005 01:30 GMT3
Now, I know with a lot of the newer vehicles, basic trouble codes
can be read with certain combinations.. such as hold mileage reset
button and turn key to acc, on, acc on etc and engine light will blink
the code.. Is there any such way to access the codes on a 2003 saturn
