Two Footed Driving Opinions (left foot for brake) Solicited ?29 Aug 2005 14:28 GMT13
Have a continual debate within the family on which is
"better".
I've always braked with my left foot (on auto trans. cars), and am convinced
it's a better way.  Also, a split second faster in an emergency, I would
Another hypothetical situation29 Aug 2005 08:20 GMT13
In looking over some of the evaluations of late model automobiles, very few
were given a smiley face
where road noise was concerned.
I have ridden in some cars where the rumble from the front suspension, road
Rotors made in China29 Aug 2005 04:31 GMT62
These are priced at 1/4 the cost of US made rotors - $20 vs. $80. They are
for the rear brakes on a Nissan Altima. I've heard quality of Chinese parts
has improved significantly in the last few years. Can anyone confirm this?
Auto transmission advice sought28 Aug 2005 18:02 GMT2
I just bought a used '87 Toyota PU with an automatic transmission with
overdrive.  It seems to shift from 2nd to 3rd later than I would
expect.  If I accelerate very slowly it shifts to 3rd at about 38 MPH.
I can drive at a constant speed at 36-38 and it will stay in 2nd gear.
alt fuel car perf charcteristics?28 Aug 2005 16:22 GMT5
Lets say I want to build an alt fueled car. I need to weigh importance
of top speed vs trip distance vs accel. I guess it goes without saying
that all these must be maximized and purchase price and operating price
minimized, but lets plod on a little farther. I dont think top speed ...
Teflon Clear Coat Polish28 Aug 2005 15:51 GMT1
Hello,  I'm searching for a paint polish called "Detroit's #1 Clear Coat
& Sealant (with Dupont Teflon). There is no distributor name  on the one
bottle I have left, and my search results have been unrevealing.
Thank you for any info. you can provide.  Chuck
Replacemnt tranny pan w/ drain plug...28 Aug 2005 15:16 GMT16
Can you buy one for later model cars?  I've been checking
on the web and it seems that most of what's available is for
70's and 80's Ford and Chevy V8 models.  I though that JC
Whitney had them for late model cars but it doesn't seem to
Setting timing on Mazda 62628 Aug 2005 15:15 GMT14
I just replaced the water pump and the timing belts on this Mazda 626
2.5L V6. Definitely not a novice job, took me two days.
Now that I got everything together through a miracle, the engine will
turn over but not run. The timing needs to be set. The worthless Haynes
iso-butane conversion from r-12 for 69 camaro28 Aug 2005 11:07 GMT39
I'm interested in converting the existing AC in my 1969 camaro to an
iso-butane system.  Can someone who has done this to any r-12 system
give me some pointers on what equipment I will need to change out, and
where to buy some of the materials?  I found a fuel cannister made by
biodiesel questions28 Aug 2005 10:40 GMT9
I see various mixes of biodiesel with mineral diesel.  About 85% bio,
15% diesel is the most extreme I see.  Why is a mixture needed?
I am aware that the gasoline in E85 is to increase volatility for cold
starting, but why the mixtures for biodiesel?
Sun MGA 9000 HD setup & software..28 Aug 2005 02:03 GMT3
Anybody know what "fixed disk" number ( 1 - 47) to use in the BIOS setup
for this machine? Both hard drives are Quantum ProDrive 40S, a 40 MB
SCSI drive, 42 MB formatted.
Anybody have the software for this machine? Any state would do, I just
Why is Slick 50 still in business?27 Aug 2005 22:29 GMT21
They've been sued by DuPont, had their a.ses slapped by the FTC for their
snake-oil claims, been outed for marketing a product that has no genuine
benefits and can actually damage an engine, so how do they manage to stay in
business, still making essentially the same claims?
QUALCO Muffler Weld - Exhaust system repair27 Aug 2005 19:29 GMT23
Anybody here used the above mentioned product ?
I applied yesterday some amount of it on my exhaust system
in my junky car but my concern is that this stuff does not harden.
I left a small blob of the material on the parking lot to compare
direct drive timing27 Aug 2005 00:20 GMT10
I was looking through the teardown manual on a friend's 86 Mustang, and that
year came with three motor options: 4, 6, and 8 cylinders.  The picture of the
front of the 6 cylinder motor seems to show a direct drive timing setup - the
cam gear meshes directly into the crank gear, ...
Climate Control Unit for a Mercedes '96 S320.. Please Help!!!26 Aug 2005 20:54 GMT1

best local price I could find for this unit was $830!  I'm trying to
