Shudder from front wheel when coasting at highway speed26 Aug 2005 17:31 GMT4
I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima, and when I let up on the gas while driving
at highway speeds (40+ mph) I get a shudder from the front passenger
side wheel that feels like I am running over grooved pavement (with
accompanying noise).  Any acceleration makes it go away completly -

Car acts like it wants to stall, shifting weird26 Aug 2005 15:01 GMT11
I went over a speed bump perhaps a bit to fast this morning and
I immediately had problems with the car shifting into gear (it is an
automatic).   After coming to a stop and starting again it acts
like it wants to stall and then shifts into gear, next stop
1998 Plymouth Breeze keeps dying.....PLEASE HELP!26 Aug 2005 14:45 GMT2
My car keeps dying, and it doesn't care where it does it!  The coil was
changed, and it ran a little better, but a day or so later, started dying
once again, and this time the check engine light came on.  A friend of
mine, did a tune up, replaced the spark plugs, wires and also ...
Can vacuum hoses be too small?26 Aug 2005 14:15 GMT3
Hi, I have an 89 Ford Aerostar, and recently I replaced all my vacuum
hoses. The auto parts store didn't have the exact same size as my old
hoses, but the kid working there told me I could use smaller hoses. I
said fine and bought the six feet I needed.
'91 Sunbird hesitating for 3 years, recently getting worse26 Aug 2005 12:55 GMT2
I'm the proud owner of a '91 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, which I
bought in '93 and have generally maintained myself with a few
exceptions. 120k miles, 4 cylinder (not EFI).
About 3 years ago, I noticed that the car would hesitate when I first

1995 cavalier brakes25 Aug 2005 23:27 GMT21
Hi,  My 95' Cavalier has 201,000km on it.  The rear brakes lock up REAL
easy.  It's very unsafe.  I have replaced both rear drums and adjusted
the brakes.  That made the lockup not as bad, but still unsafe. The
tires will only lock at slow speeds (under 20km/h).  But braking from
1971 Olds 350 tuneup story - idle/timing specs needed25 Aug 2005 19:16 GMT10
1971 Olds Cutlass 350 4 bbl, 60K miles.

Not driven much in the past 4-5 years, getting her back on the road.
Points/cap/rotor/wires (from 4-year old tuneup) surprisingly OK,
PING::Ian25 Aug 2005 12:58 GMT4
Ian,
Can you give us some clues as to exactly how the TDM (theft deterrent
module) works on GM cars?
Several of us want to remove these rather troublesome devices on our project
1991 Old Cutlass Cierra, engine stall25 Aug 2005 06:20 GMT4
Bought from my Dad low mileage, however notice when warmed up, that the
engine will try to stall if you slow down too fast.  The X-mission acts like
it does not shift down.  After sitting a while (cool down) works o.k.  Last
time we worked on this, we replaced the computer.  ...
Battery Running Down, But "Everything" Off25 Aug 2005 02:00 GMT5
Have a '84 Toyota Cressida Waggon as sort of a backup car.
Hardly ever used.
Put in a brand new battery, and find it runs down after about a week or two
just sitting around.  Also have a new alternator.

can I do this??? or do I need another mortgage24 Aug 2005 18:57 GMT3
I'm pretty sure I need to change the gearbox on a Skoda Felicia estate 1.6.
Its making a horrible grinding noise which goes away when I press the
clutch, it isn't the cv joints (I've checked that) the loud click happens
about 2 times every second, and if I raise the front of the car ...
