| Cooling Fan Melted -- Why? ('92 Mazda 626) | 16 Aug 2005 17:20 GMT | 11 |
I have repeatedly melted the cooling fan on my '92 Mazda 626 even though the cooling system seems to be working correctly otherwise. (Temperature guage stays in appropriate range. Fan cuts in and out at apparently appropriate times. etc.) Obviously the fan is getting

| Smoke bomb Accuras | 16 Aug 2005 16:39 GMT | 3 |
I've seen quite a few Accuras (older models) that appear to burn oil quite badly. Was this some sort of design problem, or do the used ones just attract the sort of owners who just drive them into the ground without maintenance?

| Update: Failed HVAC Fan on 2001 DeVille | 16 Aug 2005 14:42 GMT | 3 |
Today the fan started up on its own and all was normal for several hours. Then it stopped again. I suspect the relay. Any other ideas? I may very well try my own repair. Access to the motor and

| Ping: Daniel Stern | 16 Aug 2005 03:11 GMT | 1 |
Dan, thought I'd give you a change of pace and give you a chance to reply to a "real" question. I've gone through 2 sets of Silstar bright white bulbs in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer in 16 months. What is your recommendation for a brighter headlamp that will last a reasonable amount ...

I was wanting to know how do you remove the ignition switch cylinder from the steering column of a 1989 Chevy Corsica?

| where to buy DIY rustproof coating? | 16 Aug 2005 02:11 GMT | 5 |
I have searched everywhere trying to find the material that professional rust proofing companies like Ziebart use to paint around door hinges and inside door panels, etc. It's usually a caramel or clear colored and it stays some what soft. Where could I buy that and what is it ...

| Propane torch after "liquid wrench" | 16 Aug 2005 01:30 GMT | 5 |
Trying to get the 2 part caliper off my 95 Grand Marquie. I tried liquid wrench on these 3/4" bolts, and am about to use a torch. My question is: since "liquid wrench" is flammable as hell, how long should I wait before taking a torch to those bolts? Its been awhile

| 1996 Chevy truck | 15 Aug 2005 20:56 GMT | 1 |
I have been wanting a 4x4 to drive to work. I have an 89 f-150 but it is 2 wheel drive. My dad has a 96 chevy extended cab 4x4 with a stepside bed on it. The problem is it has 247,000 miles. He has had it since almost knew and I know he had it serviced regularly. He swears it

| 1990 SAAB Brakes | 15 Aug 2005 20:46 GMT | 4 |
My brother-in-law picked up a 1990 SAAB 900 (non-Turbo) that, among other things has some apparent brake issues. It seems to run well enough, but it needs an a half shaft and some work done on the brakes. All other things being equal, I think I would have passed on this car.

| torque wrench and extensions | 15 Aug 2005 20:03 GMT | 36 |
I have a lot of bolts on my car that are completely inaccessible with a standard torque wrench. If I put a 3" extension on the wrench, I can access them. How much will this mess up the reading? Is it better to use the torque wrench with the extension, or no torque wrench at all?

| convert v-6 to i-3 | 15 Aug 2005 18:14 GMT | 12 |
Looking for MPG, what's the downside? 2000 Windstar Ford 3.8, remove rocker arms & pushrods, disconnect fuel injectors so 3 cylinders on one side become air springs. Mostly used on highway.

| Wheel alignment - how do I know they really fixed it? | 15 Aug 2005 18:00 GMT | 24 |
My question is pretty much summarized in the subject line. So, you drop off your car at a tire shop for wheel alignment. How do you know they really performed the service? They may have not even touched your car, then gave you some bogus alignment reading printout.

| Restoring mirror-like shine to rims? | 15 Aug 2005 14:49 GMT | 15 |
Has anyone had experience with restoring the mirror like shine to rims? My rims are not that old probably 5-6 yrs old. I think they're aluminum but not sure, they could be chrome. What I've tried so far: soap & water, break dust remover, mag & wheel cleaner, muthers polish, blue
