I'm not using a K&N air filter ever again...19 Sep 2005 05:13 GMT53
On my 1991 Plymouth Sundance RS 2.5 TBI, I bought a K&N air filter from
Autozone (they had to special order it) and have been running it for a
little while to see how it performed. K&N claims that you get better
air flow with them.

I have a 97 Dodge van with an odd problem. Once it is driven for several
miles, it will only run at idle and wide open. In between these 2 throttle
positions it hesitates, backfires thru intake and exhaust. It has had 2

96 Nissan Quest Starting Problem19 Sep 2005 00:18 GMT7
My van wouldn't start the other day.  I turned the key but the starter
wouldn't turn over.  All the lights worked and the headlights didn't
dim when I tried it.  I tried putting it in neutral but still nothing.
I kept trying for over 1/2 hour and nothing.  I had it towed about 7
Steering Problem18 Sep 2005 23:00 GMT8
My car broke down last night.  I was wondering if anyone could give me
some hints as to what's going on.  I've searched through the group, but
the best I can come up with, is a possible ball or CV joint problem.
The car is a '97 Ford Escort.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that is getting about 7 MPG.  The check
engine light is on.  When I check the code it is 0171.  I have had it
at the local Dodge dealer on and off for the past 9 months.  They have

Taurus: Erratic Loss of Tire Pressure18 Sep 2005 14:21 GMT5
A friend of mine is asking for help with a tire that loses pressure
erratically. It will be fine for days, even weeks, and then loses
pressure. Inflate it, and it is good for days or weeks again. He has
taken it into a tire shop but they couldn't find anything wrong.
Toyota Celica(1979) 20R Advancer Port Clogged?18 Sep 2005 12:36 GMT2
The vacuum hose leading from the Advancer port to the TVTV  valve for the
spark control  (emissions)system was deteriorated. The end of the hose was
brittle. I pulled it off the advancer port pipe at the base of the
carburetor, and the pipe looked clear. Replaced hose.
91 Integra Sudden Overheating18 Sep 2005 07:01 GMT4
This afternoon I happened to look at my temp gauge and see it
approaching the red area. There was no noticable change in performance
only the temp gauge nearing red line.
I immediately cranked up my heater and the needle dropped to around 3/4
Buick Brake Light Mystery?18 Sep 2005 05:17 GMT1
1975 Buick Regal's brake light goes on until you 'pump' the pedal once
or twice, then I hear/feel a thump and it goes off. Feels like the
vacuum seal isn't happening? I replaced the rubber inside the brake
fluid cover, as I was told it was the problem, but the light still goes

honda accord 94 automatic.
I'm uncertain if it's the timing belt but I can hear a very loud
squealing of the belt that's located near the driver side tire.   I can
see the belt if I stand beside the driver side tire.
Need GMC Van Air Conditioning advice17 Sep 2005 09:13 GMT6
I'm a mechanic but never spent much time on air con repairs. I recently
purchased a 1997 GMC Safari but the compressor wouldn't engage so I
figured the 134 was low. I had it charged and it worked great for a day
but there must be a leak. The condenser looked pretty rough so I ...
