1985 Toyota Pickup -- Idles Too Fast14 Sep 2005 02:15 GMT10
Hello, I'm a newbie here.   Just bought my first Toyota ever, a 1985
pickup with 146K miles.   The engine starts readily and pulls well.
The idle is smooth, but that's the problem.   The truck failed state
inspection because the idle is too high.   How does one adjust the idle? ...
Nissan Nx13 Sep 2005 16:53 GMT4
My '91 nissan nx has a/c when I start it and while I am driving around
it shuts off. The next time I am in there driving around again it is
cool, but then again shuts off. The fan continues to blow, but the air
is warm.
"Poppy" exhaust sound....13 Sep 2005 16:11 GMT18
Over the past few weeks, my Saturn SL2 has been developing an exhaust
noise.....it's kind of a rattly, poppy kind sound.  It only occurs
under load (up hills, accelerating from a stop, and similar).
I'll level with you....I'm OK with a wrench, but I know nothing about
Maintenance free batteries13 Sep 2005 16:03 GMT4
Here's a short quiz.
1. With respect to lead acid batteries, "maintenance free" means:
a) Maintenance is done by the seller at no additional cost.
b) There is no maintenance procedure that can extend the life of the battery.
BMW 330 transmission problem13 Sep 2005 13:30 GMT1
I have a 5-spd manual.  Occasionaly, when shifting from 1st to 2nd, as I let
the clutch pedal out, the cars "leaps" forward.  The dealer says they find
nothing wrong.
Dealer shop manuals13 Sep 2005 05:51 GMT12
I understand that these can be a little pricey, but where can I get
one?  Can I buy one straight from the dealership, or some such?
camaro 5spd  info needed13 Sep 2005 02:34 GMT7
I was going to take my 700r4 (sh.t) tranny out and put a    5  spd in her,
but there isn't one to be found. I asked my buddy and he is pretty sure I
can use the v6 tranny. Is this true ?. I really wanna  5 spd to power it as
the 700r4 is about as reliable as bill gates windows ME ...
What's involved in refitting a dual-fuel vehicle?12 Sep 2005 23:58 GMT1
I have a former Minnegasco van that apparently has the capacity to run
on natural gas.  There is a controller attached to the dash that lets
one switch from gas to
CNG, but the tank has been taken out.  Anyone know what's involved in
1992 jeep cherokee12 Sep 2005 23:42 GMT3

had 10 lbs of air in it when it should have 35. iadded air but  not long

No valve adjustment for 1998 Nissan DOHC 4-valve 2.4L?12 Sep 2005 22:11 GMT5
Why does the owner's manual specify no valve adjustment interval even
though the lifters are solid rather than hydraulic?
This engine has no rocker arms but has the cams press directly against
the lifters and uses disks of various thicknesses to set the
Hydrogen car12 Sep 2005 21:04 GMT60
I'm wondering if hydrogen can be used in CNG (compressed natural gas)
fueling systems? CNG systems store the gas in high-pressure tanks; hydrogen
can be stored under the same pressure as well.
If so, hydrogen could potentially be generated in each consumer's home via
Disc brakes won't release12 Sep 2005 20:37 GMT12
Front disc brakes on a '70's vintage Dodge van won't release except
when I put a c-clamp across the caliper. Once the pedal is pushed,
they're locked on again.
It's been parked for over 10 years. I'm resurrecting it long enough to
Nissan Altima electrical problem12 Sep 2005 19:15 GMT1
I suspect I have a bad alternator on my '96 Altima (I had to replace
the alternator on it around 50K miles, and it now has 110K on it), but
I would like someone with some expertise to confirm this.  I was
idling at a red light on Saturday when my car just stopped.  No
Stuck bolt11 Sep 2005 17:48 GMT13
I brought my 1997 Dodge Intrepid into the shop for new rear struts.  They
could not do the job because they could not remove the lower bolts (the one
that run parallel to the ground). He told me that he broke 2 stainless
sockets.
Honda Civic - Loud Engine and Slower Acceleration11 Sep 2005 10:32 GMT4
Over the past few days, I have noticed  that the engine on my '99 Honda
Civic is much louder then before, particularly when accelerating and the car
feels slower/sloppier, so I need to push gas pedal more to get the same
acceleration.
