Wheel removal29 Oct 2005 19:59 GMT9
My wife has a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am which needs to have the tires rotated.
The wheel lugs were torqued on pretty tight but my 200 pounds on the lug
wrench managed to loosen them.  Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the
aluminum wheels.  They are stuck solid and refuse to ...

Be very aware of using the Mr. Transmission franchise for auto repairs. I

fix my vehicle when they got through with it.

Does vortec engine mean good?29 Oct 2005 15:07 GMT33
Hi, I was looking at a minivan - astro or safar.  Is the 4.3 Vortec a
good engine?  I just see it as a plus in the ads and wanted to know.
Especially since they are higher in miles (at least the ones I can
afford).  Thanks.

idea?

Window regulator replacement (Buick)28 Oct 2005 23:35 GMT1
2001 Buick Century needs driver window regulator. I would like to do
the replacement myself. Where can I find installation procedures? Is
this a job that only a mechanic should perform?

the sweet smell of antifreeze spewing from the motor28 Oct 2005 08:57 GMT10
OK, long story short, my 3 month old head gasket is blown.  I've no choice but
to put another one on, but I would like to brainstorm what could possibly be
the problem in advance of pulling the head and seeing the evidence for myself.
The gasket had about 1200 miles on it.  No ...
Check Engine - question28 Oct 2005 05:17 GMT14
So my car has had the Check Engine light on for the last 2 weeks. It
runs fine and I have a feeling it's just the light itself that's
broken, but it made me wonder, what is this mysterious engine light?
What does it actually measure? The fule gauge checks the fule, the
Synthetic Oil Changes28 Oct 2005 04:34 GMT23
My independent GM mechanic, whom I trust, has recommended to me that I
use synthetic oil in my recently-purchased 2004 Impala, and use this mx
schedule: change filter (AC Delco only) every 3000 miles, change oil
every third filter. Sounds reasonable. Do any of the experts on this

Illume's site now, but it says it's just an illustration?

Bonneville stalling problem27 Oct 2005 20:32 GMT6
I have a 1988 Bonneville with 288,000 miles on it.  Occasionally the
engine will very briefly stall while I am driving.  I know this because
the "check engine soon" light flashes very briefly and the meters
immediately shut down.  It has never completely stopped running while I
