Delphi17 Oct 2005 18:07 GMT20
Heard this morning that Delphi has declared bankruptcy.
Management apparently voted itself a healthy benefits package just
before the filing.  They hope to emerge in a couple of years.
Management being more important than workers, it is not surprising

Cadillac Eldorado Has Bad Leveller Pump. Alternatives?16 Oct 2005 23:20 GMT4
I have a 1989 Cadillac Eldorado with auto-leveller in the back, which
consists of a pump and two air shocks.  I don't really want to pay
over $300.00 for a leveller pump for this car, but would rather find a
nice, inexpensive work-around.  The car sags a bit in the caboose, as
Bulk XLR connectors and cable16 Oct 2005 19:50 GMT2
I am thinking of buying XLR connectors and microphone cabel in bulk.
I am thinking of doing that to save money, make custom lengths, and
build very high quality cables.  My questions are:
1) Will it actually save any money over buying pre-made standard
Does clearcoat oxidize?16 Oct 2005 19:39 GMT5
...or is it a problem for just the paint beneath?
I'm trying to determine if a badly oxidized pickup truck that is heavily
oxidized (faded) from sitting out in a vacant lot too long is worth
polishing out by machine (without ripping through the paint).
incrasing noise at acceleration16 Oct 2005 14:08 GMT1
I acquired my 01' Impala used a year ago. At that time, acceleration was
pretty quiet. But with time, the noise is louder and louder when foot on gas
pedal. I mean the "normal" revs noise from the front (engine/around). Gas
mileage keeps the same. Just the acceleration "sounds" ...
Blower works only on high16 Oct 2005 12:14 GMT6
My wife has a 1996 Plymouth Voyager.  She advised me that the blower for the
defrost, heating and cooling only works on the high setting.  I found that
when the blower control switch is turned on it does not go on until it is
set to the high position.  Removing the switch control ...
Leaking Fluid Unknown16 Oct 2005 02:53 GMT6
I have a 1982 Dodge 400 2.2l  I noticed that my car has been leaking
numerous puddles of a yellowish fluid with what looks like extremely
fine silver dust.  My master brake cylinder was low.  Could brake fluid
have the fine dust in it?  Also, when i accelerate from an idle, i hear
airbags for toyota corolla16 Oct 2005 00:04 GMT7
I want to buy a used Toyota Corolla (CE 1998, $3900, 60k miles) , which
unfortunately had its airbags blown-up. This , of course, it is
reflected in the lower price. Apparatently, the cause was a minor
accident since there's no entry on the Carfax report.
Rear main seal leaking15 Oct 2005 23:31 GMT6
on a Ford 351W in an F100 pickup.
35k miles on a complete rebuild.  Engine runs great other than that leak.
I'm running up against a deadline that will prevent me from doing the
planned removal of the engine to repair the problem.  But, I need my truck
2.8 astro and 2.8 s-10 chev15 Oct 2005 19:26 GMT2
Is the 2.8 FI engine from an Astro Van the same as a 2.8 FI engine that
an S-10 chevy truck has?  It appears to me that the bell housing (where
the transmission bolts to) is different from a quick look.  If I were
to remove the front accessories from the engine would it be possible ...

Another generator situation15 Oct 2005 14:00 GMT10
As a matter of fact, since Katrina and Rita, I have been toying with the
idea
of cobbling an emergency generator together.  A good generator head can
be had for about $400, maybe cheaper someplace.
