acceleration noise - from engine or exhaust?18 Nov 2005 23:19 GMT1
My 2001 impala used to be relatively quiet at acceleration when bought used
a year ago. But it keeps getting noisy for months.
It's just the normal acceleration noise "wengggggggg........." from under
the hood, but now much louder, sounds like a 20 years old car when

about tires18 Nov 2005 16:09 GMT5
I noticed in a recent Wall Street Journal article that Bridgestone is
recommending replacing tires that are 10 years old, regardless of tread
depth, even including spare.  The article mentioned that Ford recommends
replacement at 6 years.  Discount Tire store says replace at 5 ...
90 Chevy 1/2 Ton xfer case q18 Nov 2005 07:17 GMT8
today was the first snowfall, and I discovered two things about my truck...
1) the tires suck.  they looked in better shape before I owned it
(father-in-law's old truck) and they'll need to go.
2) there's something "broken" in the 4wd system.
Need help choosing a tire size17 Nov 2005 19:22 GMT3
My 2002 Camry LE came with 205/65R15 tires. Can I put a slightly wider
set of winter tires on? I'm looking at the following size: 215/65R15
Also, will I have to buy a new set of rims, or change my speedometer?
What is it with Ford and fires?17 Nov 2005 18:23 GMT6
Good grief, three different recalls for three different defects that can
cause fires.
1. Leaking brake pressure switch for cruise control.
2. Battery cable rubbing on a bolt.

How Do I Bleed Air From Cooling System?17 Nov 2005 14:57 GMT4
The car is a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta with the 3.1 L V6 engine. I can
hear water gurgling through the heater core (or at least somewhere
behind the dash) when I start the car and the engine is cold.
I've tried adding coolant to the radiator several different ways and
Carburetor Theory: Idle Mixture17 Nov 2005 09:13 GMT7
This I simply don't understand. I put a rebuilt Motorcraft 2150 2v carb
on my 1977 F-150 400m Engine, and then set about adjusting it per the
tech manual. I had only one problem: when in "park" the idle was fine,
but when I put it in "drive" the engine died. Ok, fine, call for help.
ignition pulse17 Nov 2005 06:06 GMT2
If you have a spark tester to test your ignition system, would it be
neccesary at all to check if the ignition module is pulsing the ground
side of the coil with a test light or voltmeter?
Four electrical questions17 Nov 2005 01:11 GMT14
Hi, I finally was able to make my own jumper wires and successfully test my
blower motor and fan motor; however, I have some questions now:
1) When I went to jumper my blower motor to my battery, I only needed one
wire from the positive prong of the motor to the battery, even ...
window motor slows, then stops17 Nov 2005 00:29 GMT1
I have a 2000 corolla and both rear windows have the same problem.
They will roll down but only halfway up before quitting.  If I wait a
minute they will finish rolling up.  I thought they might be binding on
something so I removed the motors and tried them removed from the
aligning hood16 Nov 2005 18:14 GMT12
This past weekend I put a new hood on a 1996 Acura TL.  I tried my best to get
it lined up, but it is not quite right.  Are there any tricks to getting this
done right?  TIA

setting toe at home16 Nov 2005 14:48 GMT7
Helped my friend set the toe on his race car with boards and tape
measures... and just did it on the wife's Beretta after a tie rod
change... but here's my question:
If the toe is say 1/8 toe in, where is that measured from/to?  Front of
Seeking answer to AT shifting problem16 Nov 2005 08:11 GMT5
I damaged the automatic transmission on my mini van by driving around too
long with too much AT fluid in it.
It doesn't slip, but it does not shift in the right spots anymore, and seems
to "hunt" around for the right speed especially getting on the gas after
