OK to eliminate the PCV valve?13 Jun 2006 19:10 GMT8
I am not a mechanic, but this is in regards to a 1994 Chevrolet Corsica with
a 6 cylinder engine that has 138,000 miles on it, is still in very good
condition, and has always had Mobil 1 synthetic oil.
It is my contention that the PCV valve, on an engine this old, is likely to

Hi, I have a 99 Corolla and have just started feeling occasional
shuddering in the steering wheel when driving at ~70 mph on the
highway. There are no problems at lower speeds and the shuddering isn't
always present although it is frequent at high speeds. Can anyone give

Putting drain plug kit in Auto Trans??13 Jun 2006 05:05 GMT35
I just bought an B&M Auto Trans drain plug kit.  I'm thinking of just
draining the tranny by using my dremel to drill a small hole where the
plug is going to go.  Then I'll widen it out the the appropriate width
with a drill bit after removing the pan.
Windshield Washer13 Jun 2006 02:15 GMT2
The windshield washers just stopped working on my 1989 Toyota
Corolla...there is plenty of fluid in the washer resevoir and the wipers
and all other controls work fine.  I recently had the auto transmission
rebuilt on the car and is it possible that they disconnected something

Baffled - carburator problem (4-stroke outboard engine)12 Jun 2006 20:12 GMT35
Hopefully someone has a thought on this.
The engine has four carbs.  It is a four stroke 100HP.  The engine will
not start.  A few days before the problem occured I used the boat for
about 2 hours chasing stripers around the bay. The engines were turned
328i bmw maintenance questions12 Jun 2006 19:03 GMT1
Looking at a '98 328i with 144K miles, 5-spd.
It has no maintenance records whatsoever.  Assuming nothing
has been done to it, the mileage is such that it's heading into the
major repairs zone, IMO.
steering wheel suddenly moved 45 degrees, now cocked12 Jun 2006 15:09 GMT16
I was driving my 96 Mazda 626 on the interstate, at about 70mph, on a
gradual curve. I think I hit a small bump, maybe an expansion joint,
when suddenly I heard a small soft thunk and my steering wheel suddenly
moved left in my hands - but the car kept going where I'd been
Tool Makers11 Jun 2006 23:40 GMT10
I am looking to buy a set of tools in the near future.  Preferably 400+
pieces and a 40" wide box.  I was just wondering what your thoughts are
on the different tool makers, snap-on, proto/blackhawk, mac, matco, etc.
What are your experiences with them?  What do you consider to be ...

Changing a car battery11 Jun 2006 06:52 GMT4
I'm trying to replace my car battery but old battery acid has covered
the negative terminal.  I have wiped away the excess acid but it has
gotten in the ridges of the screw, causing me to have a hard time
unscrewing the nut.  Any help or suggestions as to how I can unscrew it
