It's a 91 2.5L TBI ... the rig became progressively sluggish [over weeks] until it would hardly move. Any throttle movement would stall the engine. And the exhaust manifold was red hot before I chose not to drive it!

I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville, according to everything I've researched (VIN & Year), it would be a 1st Gen. 3800 engine. It is smoking from the rear of the engine (or towards the firewall, rather) as well as the tailpipe. It looks like a head gasket problem, but it

| Cars friendly to the home mechanic | 07 Jul 2006 10:11 GMT | 44 |
Just a question and a comment here... Would anyone agree with me that the 'newer' model cars (1994 on up) are much more difficult to work on for the home mechanic than the much older models? Or do you cars have gotten much easier and simpler to work on over the years?
