Need Advice: 93 Aerostar Rack & Pinion24 Jul 2006 23:53 GMT4
My 1993 Aerostar (170,000 miles) rack & pinion has been leaking power
steering fluid for quite a while.   I plan on replacing it with an
Autozone or Checker rebuilt assembly and since the suspended wheel has
play when shook, the outer tie rod ends for both front wheels at the
starter and air conditioner24 Jul 2006 22:26 GMT11
My boss told me to turn off the A/C when I park the truck 'cause it
puts unneeded stress on the starter.  I told him that didn't sound
right, and I was fairly certain axillary functions were shut off when a
car started.
Casey Jones You Better Watch Your Speed24 Jul 2006 21:25 GMT27
Work = Force X Distance. So obviously it takes more force to drive
faster in a car, and the same distance is traveled regardless of how
fast you are going. So if we reduce the speed limits we will save money
and gas!!!!

Fuel economy with inverter/computer24 Jul 2006 15:23 GMT1
Are there any estimates as to how much running a computer (or really any
electrical load) affects fuel economy.
I'm estimating that my computer (rated at 90 watts, never tested actual
draw) pulls somewhere around a little less than 10 amps (also never tested)

How to raise rpm when A/C is on?24 Jul 2006 08:21 GMT10
I have '87 BMW 316 carb engine. I bought complete A/C set from a wrecked
car, and am about to fit it in mine (without factory installed A/C).
One of the problems I am facing is how to raise rpm to compensate for
additional load when A/C compressor is on.
Rear Brake Work, Toyota Starlet 1984 GL24 Jul 2006 06:35 GMT7
Hi I'm completely new to car maintenance; I have a computer geek
background, but have just read "Zen and the art of motorcycle
maintenance" and am inspired to learn.
I want to get a 1984 Toyota Starlet on the road, I took it to a garage
Catalytic converter23 Jul 2006 19:18 GMT1
I have a '78 Buick Regal with a 3.8 l 231cc V6.  The catalytic
converter, due to corrosion and to a rather unfortunate recent incident
with a railroad crossing, is in a very badly mangled condition.  I am
told it costs $300 to replace.  I also vaguely recall hearing that on
1987 Nissan Stanza (oil leak)23 Jul 2006 13:59 GMT2
Just purchased a 1987 Nissan Stanza, 4 cylinder.  It's in amazingly
good condition inside and out.  I've only owned the car for a week.  On
two occasions I've noticed a small spot of oil on the garage floor
after parking the car for the night. I'm only using the car to get to
Painting Help23 Jul 2006 05:19 GMT1
I'm looking to give my 78 CJ7 a fresh coat of paint.   Since i plan on
replacing the body in the semi-near future, i'm not looking for it to
be a professional job so i'm going to try to tackle it myself.  My
question is this...  It's currently black with a clear top-coat.  Its
Noisy window, 1996 Ford Taurus23 Jul 2006 05:05 GMT6
The front passenger-side window always sounds as if it's not quite closed;
it's actually a little quieter if I back off 1/8 inch from maximum closed
position.
What should I look for?  Not having looked yet, I'm wondering if it's a
