How to Tow RWD MT Car with Car Dolly ?04 Oct 2006 23:27 GMT11
Assuming a 350 mi 1-way trip...
I've always heard that the way to tow a car (with a car dolly) was to
disconnect the driveshaft at the rear axle. Given a solid rear axle and
a manual transmission (5speed) in a traditional front engine, RWD
Which oil filters are best?04 Oct 2006 06:09 GMT56
I have not found any independent tests regarding screw on oil filters.
Just from word of mouth I have heard that the NAPA gold or silver, and
the $5 Purolator are the best.
Any thoughts or independent tests on internet you can refer me to?
Changing studs on F-25004 Oct 2006 03:49 GMT2
Has anyone here ever changed the wheel studs on the Dana axle, ford F-250?
The tire guys put on F150 lug nuts (custom) and they bottomed out.....No
contact at all with the wheel and hub. I didn't know it till I was pulling a
7K trailer and started breaking studs......
DOHC, SOHC, NOHC  Performance benefits, or hype?04 Oct 2006 03:07 GMT22
Seems that you hear a lot of buzz in the auto world about how many
overhead cams something has.  I hear a *LOT* of the buying public, the
ones that I would essentially label as 'sheep' (no offense to them,
though), talking about overhead camshafts as a 'performance' feature.
1986 Ford F-150 Help04 Oct 2006 01:28 GMT9
I need to change the passenger's side valve cover gasket on this pickup . It
is fuel injected . I was wondering if anyone has ever done this ? I really
don't want to pull off the fuel injection airhorn if I really don't have to
. Can it be done without removing this ? I know it ...
Oil (?) and metal particles in Coolant03 Oct 2006 21:33 GMT1
Hi I really could do with some advice please...
I just checked my coolant levels on my Renault Megane Coupe, 1996, 60k
miles. The coolant bottle was so gummed up that I could not even see
the water level.
Eibach ProKit vs H&R Sport Springs03 Oct 2006 20:19 GMT8
I've decided to get some lowering springs for my Grand Am, but I was
wondering if any of you had any opinions to which one has a better
ride? Both seem like a good choice, but I'm not sure as to which one is
better quality, ride, etc. Any ideas?
2000 Astro van heater problem03 Oct 2006 20:03 GMT2
My heater heats and the ac cools but the dampers don't work. I get air
out the floor outlets and the defrost outlets together but never out
the dash vents. Switching to different output positions on the heater
switch doesn't seem to have any affect.
1988 Chevy Sprint03 Oct 2006 16:01 GMT3
I Have this Sprint and I can't get it to lean out the mixer control
selenoid unless I ground the blue wire with red stripe which the
computer is supposed to ground. At first the selenoid wasn't working so
I installed another one that does work. I watch a volt meter connected
86 Corolla used engine???03 Oct 2006 15:19 GMT1
I am the type that likes to fix rather than ditch broken stuff.
I have an '86 Corolla 5sp, with a bad 1st Cylinder.  I'd like to maybe
get a used engine for it but I've found them hard to come by, or very
expensive.  I'm wondering what luck I should expect for finding a used
oval track spring question03 Oct 2006 04:36 GMT4
I know there's a couple of racers on here, maybe you can help me
understand why all the books and all the experts recommend a stiffer LR
spring over the RR?  They say do it, but never say why.
I always see stuff like:
I haven't changed spark plus in 4.5 years03 Oct 2006 02:39 GMT8
but it's only been about 20k miles.  I have a 97 dodge truck with about
87k miles on it.
Do I need to change the plugs?  I don't see any "symptoms", but i'm not
sure what to look for.
Where did fiendish engine knock go?03 Oct 2006 01:39 GMT3
I have a four-cylinder chevy that I let sit for a year.
When I fired up the engine, there was this tremedous
engine knock that sounded as if engine failure was
happening.  So I turned it off and cursed my bad luck
reverse distance sensor (for backing up)03 Oct 2006 00:25 GMT1
what would be a good and easy unit to use/install oneself as a backup sensor, to
determine distance from wall or other obstacle (ie. pillar in public parking garage or
other car)?
I'm not afraid of doing a little drilling myself but in visiting the local napa
1993 GMC K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel Starting problem02 Oct 2006 21:06 GMT4
I'm usually pretty good with this, but this problem has me stumped.  My
K3500 is exhibiting symptoms that I would normally attribute to a flat
spot.  The problem is - I've replaced the starter within the past 3
weeks (AutoZone w/ LLT Warranty), and it is exhibiting the same type of
