Why doesn't Fuel Gauge rest at Empty when car is turned off?13 Oct 2006 18:40 GMT7
Hi group:
I notice on many cars that when you turn off the motor, the fuel gauge
setting does not rest on Empty.  Also, if you remove the gauge cluster
from the car, the fuel gauge setting behaves the same.
Purchasing Hand Tools13 Oct 2006 18:30 GMT21
Many years ago I had amassed a combination of Craftsman, Snap-On and
Matco hand tools.  While I really liked the Matco and Snap-On tools,
they might be outside my means for the occasional Shade
Tree/Weekend/Race Car stuff.
flushing of cooling system---different ways?13 Oct 2006 14:33 GMT14
I was assuming  a "cooling system flush"  was always a chemical flush,
where you flush it out with a special cleaner?   The shops around here
all generally charge around $100 for a "flush", but when I asked the
shop that i chose to use  (a shell station)  if it's chem. flush he

Cadillac strut and shock replacement $$$$$$$$$  - What gives?  Econmical solution?13 Oct 2006 12:31 GMT1
I have a 1999 Deville and the front struts are bad (hard ride over
rough roads), and the rear air shocks don't adjust higher with people
in the back seat or a load in the trunk.
The shocks and struts are NOT the Electronic Road Sensing types.
Radio wont turn off13 Oct 2006 04:36 GMT16
I am having a problem with the radio in my car. Whenever I turn the
ignition off and take the key out of it, the radio continues to play. I
can't find any shorts in the wiring harness, so I was wondering if it
may an internal problem in the ignition? Has anyone had this sort of
64 T-Bird brake lights not working13 Oct 2006 00:46 GMT8
64 T-Bird brake lights not working.  I have replaced the brake light
switch on the master cylinder and traced wires to a relay on front
fender.  I am able to actuate the brake lights with a jumper wire at
the replay connection.  Replaced relay and still NO brake lights.  Any

I'm a college student who is planning on developing an aftermarker
cruise control system as a final project for my bachelor of engineering

Which remanufactured engine company?12 Oct 2006 16:40 GMT4
I am looking for an remanufactured engine for my 1977 Toyota Celica. I
have done a ton of research and it comes down to either "Jasper
Engines" or "West L.A. Engine"  I've read good and bad things about
Jasper; more good than bad. I can't seem to find much on "West L.A"
Floor jack on a chevy venture.12 Oct 2006 14:58 GMT19
I recently purchased a floor jack to jack up my 2003 Chevy Venture in order
to get a jack stand under it.  I wasn't sure where to put the jack to raise
the car so I called an auto parts store where the worker told me that I can
either put it at the base of the control arm or the ...
Nissan Maxima Automatic trans12 Oct 2006 14:47 GMT1
I am about to tear into a 1990 Nissan Maxima Automatic tranny.  The car has
130,000 miles on it and is not worth the $2-2.5 thousand I am being quoted
by tranny shops.
Has anybody done this and are there any cautionary tales out there?  Is

Finally picked up an old street rod (after 40 years).  Now looking for the
most

...like those shorty wiper blades, outside mirrors, gauges, toggle switches,
grabbing when backing up12 Oct 2006 01:40 GMT2
I'm hoping someone could help, because I got ripped off twice by a
service station that said they'd fixed things, only to have the problem
crop up again a few miles later.
A lot of the time when I'm backing up, or less frequently when I'm at a
