Eagle Talon Engine Cuts Off - Why?16 Nov 2006 23:17 GMT1
I have a '97 Eagle Talon and several weeks ago, I had intermittent problems
starting it.  I could hear the engine turning but it wouldn't fully engage
until a few minutes of trying.  I took it into the service garage and they
couldn't find anything wrong.  I haven't had starting ...
auto lift/parking space16 Nov 2006 21:14 GMT5
I am in the process of building a 2 car garage. My plan is to have one
of these mobile 4 post lifts which can be used to do auto work as well
as park a sports car on the lift with another car beneath. They have a
sliding jack plate so that wheels can be removed etc. I typically do

98 Camry Flex exhaust pipe cracked/ loud exhuast noise16 Nov 2006 19:09 GMT4
I have a problem when the engine gave off a loud noise when running.
The sound seems to come from the engine, not under the car or muffler.
The mechanic diagnosed it as a cracked flex pipe that runs to the
exhaust. Apparently, in some cars, the engine literally lifts on its
Is there a instructional video guide..16 Nov 2006 18:21 GMT2
I was wondering if there was a instructional video guide to more
complex car mechanics.. I do alot of the work on my car myself, but
stuff like rebuilding a carb or changing the shocks i havent gotten
into yet.. So i need a video or a computer program that might guide me
avoiding cold starts16 Nov 2006 16:19 GMT13
First, are these assumptions correct?
(1) Starting a car when the engine is cold puts alot more stress on it
than when it's already warm.
(2) And the colder it is, the more stress.

a reliable/complete tester...16 Nov 2006 12:53 GMT1
Does anybody know of an automotive diagnostics tester for a Lincoln?
Everybody seems to carry the $30 one that covers an array of vehicles,
but the codes they provide are limited and normally vague at best.  I'm
looking for a code reader that can pull the complete set of codes
protecting from corrosion after scrape16 Nov 2006 02:14 GMT4
I backed my 2006 Milan into another one recently and ended up with
scratches on my bumper, door, and that panel in between.  I may not try
to fix it, because it will cost $500+.  And the damage isn't visibly
terrible.
'02 Pontiac Grand Am GT Engine Temp Rise when Idling15 Nov 2006 21:09 GMT3
After driving with the engine warmed up to normal temp (around 200),
when i get stuck in traffic or at stop lights my engine temp slowly
inches up to the 230-250+ range.  I've had a new thermostat installed
and had the coolant flushed, but it still does it.  The only thing that

I have a 1964 T-Bird that suppose to have a 390 engine.  I have found a
raised casting number on the right front of the block  #16 with 352
underneath.  Any idea if this is trully a 390 or perhaps been changed
with a 352 engine?

Changing head gasket on a Legacy Outback 1996 2.5L engine15 Nov 2006 04:56 GMT2
I think I have a leaking head gasket on my Legacy Outback 1996 (2.5L),
and I've decided to change it myself. I got the Haynes repair manual,
but a few things are not very clear and I was hoping to get some advice
from people on this list about the following points:
