what exactly does a dpfe senor control?

Car: 1990 Beretta 3.1/AT.  240,000km.
Is now my designated winter commuter.
Runs fine.
Well, was running fine, now mostly runs fine.

1997 5.7 Chev...with three fouled plugs. Changed rotor, cap, wires,
plugs ( all OEM). OBD II reads running rich left bank, running right
bank and missing on three cylinders. Intake Manifold is present and
good, not burning oil, or antifreeze.

My mazda protege went through a lot of water last week during a warm
spell. and i believe water got into the starter.
THe temperature has been bone chilling ever since.
My car won't turn over in the morning, because it's too cold.

I'm looking for some interior trim parts for my 2004 car, and I'd like
to get from junk yards.
I'm looking for comments/suggestions as to how/where to search for
junk yards online

I can't get the o2 sensor off.  It's the one facing the engine. Real easy to
get to just won't come lose. I'm afraid I'm going to break it. I guess it's
seared to the exhaust pipe from the heat.  Is there an easy was to get it
loosened up?

Having never replaced a battery before, I decided it was time to give
it a shot.  I bought a new battery while I was visiting my folks and

- the oil pump moves a fixed volume of oil per rotation;
- the oil level never drops so low that the pickup is even partially
