Hey all,
My wife and I just got hitched and I've now inherited the
responsibility of maintaining her little 2002 Toyota Rav4... her pride
and joy. I've been taking it in for its regular oil changes for a while
Oldsmobile Diesel04 May 2007 03:02 GMT20
I got this vintage oldsmobile diesel float from ebay without googling
it first.  There are a lot of heels in my area and it heats up badly
on my road home(elevation 2200ft).  I am a trucker and the diesel
trucks have high speed elctric fans for doing heavy lifting on

$30.

On further inspection it seems to be a gizmo that produces vacuum using
So where are the hybrid cop cars?03 May 2007 23:03 GMT5
A bit of (near silently) idle curiosity:  Are there any efforts
underway to adapt or develop a hybrid for city police duty, be it
patrol or the fleet cars that detectives and so forth use?
Seems a natural fit:  all that stop-and-go driving where regenerative

leaking transmission seals03 May 2007 05:45 GMT5
at the moment I'm having trouble with some leaking transmission
seals.    But the truth is that it's not worth fixing as the actual
trans itself is going out.   So I purchased a bottle of trans sealer.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be working.   I do have a question
Definition of changing tranny fluid03 May 2007 02:29 GMT9
Both my cars (Lexus LS400, Land Rover Disco) have auto trannies, and
the manuals say to change the fluid every 30K miles. In general, does
this mean a full flush, or drain what you can (30-40%) and replace?

1982 fiat trans ?02 May 2007 21:04 GMT2
My friend recently purchased a 1982 fiat 2000 spider and it pops out
of first gear badly.you can't even hold it in first gear.I have never
been inside of this trans before but my guess would be the sunchro/
blocker ring assembly. If it was the shift shaft wouldn't it have a
Q RE: GM 4x4 "wax motors" and when they were replaced with something  better...02 May 2007 19:49 GMT5
My '97 Chev K3500 has the stupid "wax motor" actuator for the center
disconnect on the front axle. While it's generally worked adequately, it
looks like it may have finally died. It wasn't working this weekend when
I needed it so I had to do a bit of winching to get unstuck.
Problem removing rear brake cylinders on Pontiac Grand Am (1996)02 May 2007 16:10 GMT6
Hi all, I decided to replace (instead of rebuild) my rear brake
cylinders, and am regretting the decision.  If anyone has done this
before let me know.  The hole just isn't big enough to allow the old
cylinder to pass through, and I don't know how to get it out of the
Bad valve guides cause check engine light to come on?02 May 2007 16:03 GMT4

Autozone where they hooked it up to analyzer

I'm looking for an auto repair manual which I can download from the
web but it has to be in MS Word format.  I've come across several
websites selling downloadable manuals but they are all in PDF format.
Does anyone know if someone sells auto repair manuals in Microsoft
