Port Installed Accessories23 May 2007 21:05 GMT1
Can someone please explain what "Port Installed Accessories" are and
why they exist? If it is what it sounds like - a facility at the ports
where technicians install items on cars - why does this exist? Why
don't they do this at the factory or dealership? What is the reasoning
Question on 2000 E-350 Van23 May 2007 14:44 GMT2
I have a question for the group.  We were towing a travel trailer with
our 2000 V-10 E350 van, and after driving about 400 miles between Ft.
Davis and New Braunfels, Texas we encountered the following.  We
stopped at a stop light and as we came to a halt, we heard and felt a
Fuel leaking from carburetor bowl23 May 2007 06:16 GMT4
I have an 87 V6 Dakota with a Holley 6280 carb, similar to the 2280
except it has an O2 feedback solenoid operating the supplemental fuel
jet rather than vacuum control.
Here is the problem. The fuel escapes from the float bowl after the
Infiniti QX4 1998 - Right headlight won't turn off23 May 2007 05:21 GMT2
Recently I replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and distributor.
After we put the new distributor on, the right head light stays on
anytime the car is running.  It turns on as soon as I start the car.
The left one only comes on when I turn the lights on.
Cleaning Dry Crumbly Grease Out of a Ball Joint22 May 2007 19:05 GMT4
I went to give my new-to-me truck its first shots of grease since I
bought it.  I had some trouble with the passenger side lower ball
joint in that it seems that the grease doesn't have any oil left.  I
couldn't get any grease into the joint so I removed the zerk to find

Need advice on dealing with A/C in old car22 May 2007 13:30 GMT3
I have a 1990 Plymouth Sundance. Odometer says 125k but it broke several
years ago. So heaven only knows how many miles are actually on the car. I
bought it as a program car with 5K miles on it, all the other mileage is
mine. It's been a great car and I've kept it maintained and ...
Good Deal22 May 2007 05:49 GMT2
Hi all.  First timer here (yeah I'm a newbie with very little
automotive knowledge, so please be kind).
I found what I thought was a pretty decent deal in the local paper
today.  '97 Dodge Ram 2500, V10, 63k miles, new tires, automatic
Vulcan cam position sensor woes.22 May 2007 02:57 GMT2
98 Ranger.  Not the version of the sensor that eats shafts up.
Intermittently I get the P0304 (iirc, bank 1 cam position sensor
circuit fault) fault code.  Every single time I can just clear it and
it'll be gone for another few weeks, but then, randomly, it occurs

Where is it?21 May 2007 23:17 GMT1
I have a crankshaft position sensor failure on my Nissan Frontier 4wd
2.4 engine. I can purchase a new one but I can't find the old one.
Somewhere on the bell housing?
Ford Focus: Fan only works on level 421 May 2007 21:04 GMT1
The first three levels of my fan have stopped working, only the fourth
remains. This means a lot of air in you face, no air conditioning
expect by means of switching between three and four every thirty
seconds or so.   I have heard it is a common problem but asked about
2002 Dodge Intrepid pinging21 May 2007 16:13 GMT3
I've got a 2002 Dodge Intrepid that is pinging way too much.  I've switched
to premium fuel and that helped a bit at first, but it is still pinging too
much.  Vehicle has 145K miles.
A mechanic who saw the car suggested that the combustion chamber has taken
