In need of advice11 May 2007 18:40 GMT8
I can be kinda dumb when it comes to cars, but I've always wanted to
learn about them. I don't want to become a mechanic but I want to be
able to take care of the "simple" stuff that I should know. Now I
bought a "Car repair for dummies" book like a year ago, read like 200

Ford Quick Lane tune-up11 May 2007 13:38 GMT8
A Ford Quick Lane shop quoted me $70 for a tune-up and $25 for a lube.  Do
those prices seem right?  Are they likely to include parts and labor?  Are
they likely to do a good job?  It's for a 2002 Ford Focus with between
140,000 and 150,000 miles on the odometer, which I bought ...
Air filter11 May 2007 13:12 GMT5
When I wanted to look at the air filter in cars of the past, I think I just
had to remove a wing nut to remove the filter cover, and the filter would
be lying there loose, to simply take out.  But when I look at a 2002 Ford
Focus, I see at least six screws that seem to need to be ...
5W-30 in summer?11 May 2007 13:10 GMT2
This isn't anything super-important, but I was just curious-
I have a '78 Buick Regal with a 3.8 V6. I had the oil changed back in
January to (non-synthetic) Mobil 5W-30 because it starts better with
the 5W-30.  Thanks to walking a lot and using public transportation, I
Look It's My Car (.com) Beta Testers Wanted!11 May 2007 05:02 GMT1
I've just finished designing a website called http://www.lookitsmycar.com
- a social networking car website (sort of a MySpace for car owners!)
for uploading and sharing images of member's cars - whether it's
classic cars, or modified cars.
Cavalier: won't start when engine hot11 May 2007 03:42 GMT4
'99 Cavalier, 2.2L.  On warm days, with a hot engine, it won't start.
After sitting a couple of hours, it's OK.  When it won't start, the temp
gauge is stuck on cold.  As soon as this starts working, the engine
starts.  So, maybe a bad ECT.
Foiled by a fan clutch11 May 2007 00:56 GMT4
I'm having a helluva time getting the fan clutch loose from waterpump on
my truck.
It's a 1988 Ford F-250 with the 7.3 litre diesel.
I checked and double checked the new water pump, and yes indeed, it is a

Am I Being Ripped Off?? Cooling system pressure test10 May 2007 06:32 GMT1
My car overheated about an hour and a half away from home 4 days ago
and each day there is a new problem with it. I'll try to make this
brief. On Sunday it broke down and was towed to a Jack Williams. On
Monday they said I need a new heater core ($822) and I'd be out of

94 Z28 Weird engine stumble09 May 2007 20:58 GMT5
Hey all..  I have a 1994 Z-28 with an odd engine stumble/misfire-type
problem.  I'm hoping the symptoms are specific enough to give me a good
place to start from to solve this problem:
The car runs fine until it gets fully warm, normally about 20 minutes.
Diesel Autos09 May 2007 18:50 GMT18
What diesel autos are generally available in the US as of May 2007?
Any plans for additional models and if so, when?
Thanks,
Mike
