We were in the midst of doing a quickie alternator change the other day, had pulled the new one out of the box, and were getting
ready to swap the fan over, when I heard a rattle from inside the new one. I turned it over a couple of times, and could see though
the holes in the case ...

Radiator fan comes on too soon.15 Oct 2007 13:36 GMT3
Does anyone know what would cause the electric radiator fan to come on
within a minute or so of starting a cold engine and staying on the entire
time the car is being driven? Sometimes it only takes a few seconds after
starting the engine until it comes on. It is keeping the engine ...

Malfunction indicator (engine light) stays on14 Oct 2007 15:21 GMT3
What would cause the engine light to stay on in an '04 Honda CRV?
Manual says not to continue driving if it stays on, then says to make
sure the gas cap is on tightly, but that it would take two or three
days of driving for the light to go off, if that's the problem.

I was driving to work at about 60 mph when my car just suddenly
stopped.  There is a faint smell of burning plastic.  When I try to

what the problem is?  Thanks.
Installing Exhaust Clamp13 Oct 2007 21:48 GMT4
I've heard there is a "wrong" way to install an exhaust clamp,
therefore am concerned about the fact that the exhaust clamp on my car
has rusted off and needs to be replaced.
It's the clamp just in front of the cat converter.  There is an
1991 Toyota Camry 4 cyl13 Oct 2007 18:39 GMT2
It has 190,000 miles.  It losses oil quickly.  I just assumed it
burned it.  However, I just recently put it up for sale and an
interested buyer took it to the local mechanic.  He returned and
stated that the mechanic found that the oil loss is due to a faulty
Intermittent electrical drop or loss13 Oct 2007 18:30 GMT5
My wife has a 2000 Chevy Impala. Recently the dash lights have begun to be
dim and then later brighten to normal. Sometimes, or maybe always, the
symptom is accompanied by a whine. Yesterday she drove the car about a mile,
shut it off, and when she tried to lock the doors, nothing ...
Smartcar or Dumbcar?13 Oct 2007 16:13 GMT18
At a local mall they had 4 Smartcars for people to test drive on the
mall parking lot.  The rep said that Mercedes has invested in it but it
has NO mercedes engineering or parts.  The thing is made in France by
some unknown start up company with zero experience in making cars.
Toyota Land Cruiser 0812 Oct 2007 14:07 GMT1
Do you remember how it felt the very first time you engaged cruise
control? That momentary sense of no longer being in control, that the
car had assumed command? That's how Toyota's new crawl mode in the
2008 Land Cruiser feels at first. You select the function, take your
