Aluminum used in chassis26 Dec 2007 16:20 GMT5
I am interested in using aluminum tubing for building a tubular
chassis but most people say that aluminum does fatigue crack.
But I was thinking that it has been done and aluminum can be used for
a car chassis.
scifi channel movie scientifically impossible24 Dec 2007 18:45 GMT20
OK, I can accept that there might be 40 foot long freshwater giant
squid living in lakes. Might be.
I can accept that fishing boat engines will suddenly make horrible
clanking noises and send up clouds of smoke (like Jaws!) just when you
Need rotors - have to change pads?24 Dec 2007 05:28 GMT6
My '95 Jimmy front brake rotors have excessive runout and are slightly
grooved.  The pads, however, look new,  based on looking their
thickness.
Do I have to install new pads as well?

1990 Lebaron 3.0, charging problem23 Dec 2007 14:23 GMT2
Left the lights on while car was off ~1 week ago. Started up after a
while, and drove it for ~30 minutes to replenish the battery. As of
late (can't remember if it was before or after this happened) the
voltage seemed to be a bit higher on the meter then usual.

2000 Sunfire A/C Problem23 Dec 2007 13:33 GMT2
The A/C clutch needed replacing on this car; it was making a lot of noise
when disengaged. It always engaged reliably though when the dash A/C switch
was pressed. I took the car into the shop and they put on a remanufactured
clutch assembly. However, when I pressed the A/C switch ...

R & R 91 Tercel starter23 Dec 2007 07:25 GMT5
My mom's 91 Tercel is acting like the starter solenoid contacts need
replacement. The location of the starter looks awkward to reach. What's the
best approach to removing it? Is there a way to get it out without removal
of the intake manifold? Any pictures available on a site ...
1993 Mercury Marquis TPS22 Dec 2007 19:44 GMT2
I have a 1993 Mercury Marquis that needs a TPS.  The steel screw seems
to be tight into the aluminum body.  Seems like a quarter inch hex
head would have been preferable.  Are there any tricks in getting the
screw out without ruining the phillips head?

digital speed21 Dec 2007 23:32 GMT41
I was just wondering why most cars don't have a digital readout of
your
current speed as opposed to the gauge.  I think a readout would be
easier for the brain to process, possibly reducing accidents.
