Pressurize A/C to find leaks?31 May 2008 13:32 GMT14
I've decided to take one more stab at fixing my A/C in my '93 Mazda 626...
My problem right now is that, even after replacing the blown high pressure
line, that the system won't hold a vacuum.
What I want to do is apply a bit of pressure to the system and use a soap

Rough runner30 May 2008 22:29 GMT1
I have a '94 Ford Ranger pickup. It has only 62000 miles on as I ride
my bike a lot. It has been a good runner until recently when one day I
started it and the engine ran as rough as if one cylinder was missing.
Out on the street it smoothies out a little but lacks power. Since
Anyone remember Gasohol? Is it the same as E-10?30 May 2008 20:44 GMT5
Back in the 1970's when Jimmy Carter was president we had a similar gas
situation to what we have now. The industry came out with "gasohol" which
was a blend of alcohol made from corn, and gasoline. It destroyed fuel pumps
on many an automobile including mine. Is E-10 gas the ...
Can read ODB, but failed emission because of ODB30 May 2008 19:32 GMT7
This is a Chrysler Town and Country 2008, 3.8L, 103 thousand miles.  I
just replace the engine 5 months ago.
I am able to use an ODB scanner to read the code and it says 7
emission tests are ready or something to that extend.

backprobing or resealing weatherpack connectors29 May 2008 22:21 GMT1
Just wondering how everyone deals with backprobing connectors on the
newer weather sealed connectors.  In the past we could slip t-pins or
sewing needles down between the seal and the wire and contact the
terminal.  More modern designs on these connectors make that all but
Strange Transmission Problem29 May 2008 21:19 GMT6
A few weeks ago, I had  the following work done on my 2002 Dodge Grand
Caravan: new tires, a front end alignment, brake inspection, and a
transmission fliud flush and fill.
When I left the service center, I noticed a problem that had not been
California DMV Test-Only Smog Centers29 May 2008 20:52 GMT1
Does anyone know the history of the requirement that some vehicles in
California obtain their smog certificates from a test-only smog
center?
The California DMV website is silent on the matter, but from what I've
OZ49929 May 2008 17:59 GMT1

Engine oil and Sludge29 May 2008 15:49 GMT59
My wife drives a 2001 Jeep Wrangler six cylinder. We bought it new and  it
has 74,000 miles. She works 1 1/2 miles from home, so I'd say 70% of the
miles are from short trips.
I installed new valve lifters this weekend and when I removed the valve
weird steering oscillation29 May 2008 02:50 GMT8
I have a 1995 Lexus GS300 with ~30k miles.  It has had regular dealer
service, though perhaps not optimally since they like to go by
mileage.  Recently the car has developed an odd vibration and
steering wheel oscillation on certain highways at 50-60mph.  (The roads
Battery developments27 May 2008 22:15 GMT3
Have you noticed the recent advances in battery development. The
lithium-ion and new designs for Ni-Cad are very impressive. We are on
the way to quickly ramp up the hybrid and full electric vehicles. Look
out gasoline price jabbers!
how to remove oil before r34a recharge?27 May 2008 00:47 GMT4
If a system has received refrigerant + oil charges over time and will
no longer take a full refrigerant charge because of  the accumulation
of oil in the system, how to you remove the oil?  Will a vacuum pump
remove any of this as it takes the gas out of the lines?
No grease on lug nuts26 May 2008 12:30 GMT25
A garage mech told me today never to grease
the threads of wheell lug nuts, because it makes
it easier for them to back off i.e. become loose.
Opinions?
