Tailgate latch05 Sep 2005 01:52 GMT1
We have a '97 GMC 1500 with a tailgate that is VERY hard to open. We also
have a '99 GMC 2500 that is getting harder to open, every day. It seems like
you can't pull the handle up far enough to release the latch. I've lubed
them profusely, but it makes no difference. Anyone know ...
Update repeat 1996 Chevy Van problem (ping Ian??)05 Sep 2005 01:26 GMT4
OK I am stumped.  This is a 1996 Chevy conversion van with a remanufactured
Vortec 5.7
V-8.  There is less than 500 miles on it since install.  Once it warmes up,
the engine surges (RPMS flux up and down) when in drive.  Almost sounds as
brakes04 Sep 2005 06:51 GMT2
On my 1995 s-10 pickup the brake caliper moves about a inch when the brakes
are applied at idle.  Is this normal?  Sounds like the brakes are grabbing
extra hard.  I recently had the rotor cut and install new semi-metallic disc
pads.  Can anyone help me?
new info04 Sep 2005 04:45 GMT4
I checked the ODB scanner again this morning and it's reporting a
misfire on #4 (p0304).
I didn't let it run long but suspect it would report the random misfire
again.  Its running way too rough to be just the #4 cylinder.
87 3/4 Ton Steering Slop04 Sep 2005 03:48 GMT11
I have an 87 3/4 ton 4x4 Silverado with power steering.  I have to turn
the steering wheel about 1/4 of a complete revolution before the wheels
are affected.  The steering gearbox must have an adjustment but, there
is little to no useful information in my Haynes manual.

6.2L Diesel Starter03 Sep 2005 06:18 GMT9
I have a 1984 K5 with a 6.2L Diesel with starter problems.
I know it is missing the back mounting bracket. I just want to know if
this is the only problem.
Right now when you try to start it the starter grinds bad.
hydraulic tranny for S1003 Sep 2005 06:02 GMT1
Anyone have an update on this:
In Memphis, an independent tinkerer named John M. Hewitt is using a
hydraulic system on what used to be a Chevy S-10 pickup. The truck, which
he says accelerates adequately with an engine of less than 100 horsepower,
lowered 1500 to buy?03 Sep 2005 03:55 GMT3
I came across 2001 1500 w/V6 that's been lowered. About 1.5~2" at the
front maybe 1" in the back. I'm looking to use it for just light duty
yardwork and what not around the house. I looked under the truck.
Everything looks stock. I'm guessing the spring might have been cut at

Against everyones good advice, I upsized my tires01 Sep 2005 05:55 GMT11
Against very good advice I went up one tire size for my 1998 GMC Z71.  I
went to a 285/75/16.  I have had to buy new rims to accomodate the slightly
wider tire and have a different offset in the front for proper tire
clearence.  My concern is that the speedo and stuff like that ...
