Making Aux electrical connection02 Nov 2005 02:57 GMT9
Trying to make an electrical connection to run a small inverter inside my
truck.  Investigated the Cig Lighter and the side by side Aux1 and Aux 2
jacks, and found out they are all supported by a single 20 amp fuse.    So I
would like to make a single run to the fuse panel, in ...
"88 Silverado heating problems02 Nov 2005 02:28 GMT11
The heater blows nothing but cold air. I checked the hoses for leaks and
found none. However the inlet hose gets hot while the outlet remains cool.
Also my temp gauge started to fluctuate and peg out, then return to normal.
(happened twice on way home) I figured the thermostat has ...

Tire size and rim size01 Nov 2005 18:59 GMT9
I just purchased a 97 K2500 Ext cab LB.  The truck is to be used for
some towing (2 horse trailer) and a lot of hauling (wood, stone, hay,
etc.)
The truck came with 285/75R16 tires on 6.5 rims.  These tires do not
2005 Silverado Duramax - Engine Coolant Heater?01 Nov 2005 16:51 GMT7
I bought an '05 2500HD with the Duramax in July off of a dealer's
lot.  It did not come with an engine coolant (aka block) heater.
Up here in Central NY where the tempatures occasionally get below 0F
it would probably be happier with one.

The book says that the front brake calipers are torx bolts.
Can anyone tell me what size torx driver I need for this bolt?
I don't have any and I don't want to buy a whole set to try to get the
one that I need.

I was wondering when I change the antifreeze in my 99 jimmy, could I use
green antifreeze?
Head Gasket... main cause?01 Nov 2005 02:53 GMT3
Overheating it could very well have done it.  Pointers?  Lots.  Be meticulous in cleaning all mating surfaces.  Clean off all the bolts.  Clean out all the bolt holes and run a tap down into them.  Use a good brand of torque wrench.  Bag and label all the bolts so you know where ...

Why the spiral pattern on Radio Antennae and Grid on Windshield?01 Nov 2005 01:37 GMT36
1) What is the purpose of the spiral pattern on a car's radio antennae
(my guess it prevents ice buildup in winter?)
2) What is the purpose of the grid of black dots on the upper portion of the
windshield?
