I have a "99" Chevy Silverado. The problem is the four wheel drive is locked
in place. I have the auto 4 wheel drive push button on my truck. The 4 wheel
drive is not engaged, but it is locked and the drive shaft spins even though
I have it set on 2 Hi. What could it be?

For the most parts the truck is in reasonable shape, the only real
glitch is that the headlights, tail lights and instrument lights are

ok!  I sprayed carb cleaner, but it didn't make much of a difference.

I have a 98 Silverado 4x4 with a lot of miles on it. I notice that
under acceleration the rear end starts whining around 35mph and
continues from there. It does lessen a little bit at higher highway
speeds. If you let off of the gas and just coast the sound goes away

The backing plates are rusted badly, one is missing 2/3 of the bottom. I
have looked into getting GM replacements but they require removing the axles
to replace. I could easily cut the old ones off if there are any aftermarket
