| Ford Longevity question for the group | 22 May 2007 17:17 GMT | 18 |
Ok, am not getting any answers over on the Ferd group so I thought I would ask here. My brother is looking at an 01 with the 5.4L engine. He asked me about the expected longevity, and I don't know (I am a GM kinda guy).

Are there some on the back of the engine? How can you tell if they are leaking? Would you have to remove the engine or transmission to get @ them to do the below?

I just acquired a 1990 GMC 1500 4x4 extended cab long box a week or so ago. The previous owner said it had a VERY violent shake in the front end that would start at 45mph and stop at 65mph. His mechanic looked at the front end and couldnt find anything wrong... He was unable to

| Wiring schematic needed for 95 Jimmy W series MAP ground at ECU | 21 May 2007 22:42 GMT | 1 |
Do any of you have a confirmed connector location at the ECU/VCM for the MAP sensor ground? According to my trusty Chilton¹s which lists 94-99s (and excluded 95 schematics), it says G19¹ which I can only assume is a typo as the location on the VCM is C19 I think. Rather than ...

| timing chain | 21 May 2007 04:14 GMT | 4 |
Hello, I blew a head gasket the other day on my '89 C1500 with 4.3 TBI. Since I have everything on the front of the engine taken of anyway, should I take this time to change the timing chain? it's original with about 350,000 miles on it.

I got the "towing package" on my '98 K1500. It's rusting out *really* badly along all the welds. A few more points for GM quality, I guess. Anyhow.... what I'm thinking is wire brush the areas thoroughly

| 1997 S-10 Blazer 4X4 Starter V-6 | 20 May 2007 21:38 GMT | 2 |
Anyone know why the starters for this model cost so much? Had an issue with the starter shorting out causing a drain on battery and alt. Turned out to be a pretty expensive problem to fix. Thanks for the input.

| Adding 2-stroke oil to gas? | 20 May 2007 08:22 GMT | 4 |
This idea has been around for a while but last week I saw a guy put some 2-stroke oil in the gas tank after he filled up his old Chevy truck and he said "just a little" makes the engine last a lot longer and that he got over 300,000 miles on every truck he ever owned doing this.

| Gap increase for better MPG? | 19 May 2007 15:15 GMT | 10 |
I was reading through some earlier posts on this list, and noticed that increasing the plug gaps could lead to an increase in MPG. With the price of gas, I'm wondering if this would work on my truck? Here's how it's currently set up: 86 GMC 1500; 5.7L V8; R44TS @ .045
