Re: Transmission Question28 Aug 2009 05:59 GMT15
I am happy to answer your question. When you floor the gas pedal, you
engage the "kickdown gear." The purpose of this gear is to rev the engine
which also revs the water pump to keep the engine cool. Otherwise the
engine "lugs" and this overheats the engine, causes "pinging" and can ...
6.2 diesels opinions28 Aug 2009 00:50 GMT15
I've got my eye on a 91 Suburban 4x4 with a 6.2 Diesel in it. Anything wrong
with these engines. Ive not heard much about these engines. I heard the
block head bolt holes  crack, but Ive heard others say they are good
engines. Any chronic known problems, or is this vehicle just a ...

I recently was given an 8000 pound Warn Winch for my 4x4.  An 07 2500HD Crew
Cab.  I have been looking for a good way to mount it that will be effective
when I need it, look decent, and not cost a ton of money.  Eventually I
would like to put on the big Warn winch bumper, but I ...

T Cap fuse19 Aug 2009 19:21 GMT1
Ok, I narrowed my battery discharge problem to 2 fuses under the hood and 3
inside the cab. Under the hood, pulling the lights and the battery fuses
eliminates the drain (pulled the positive cable and rigged up a light bulb
in line between the battery and the cable). Inside the cab, ...

Smell of natural gas from engine cmprtmt?16 Aug 2009 17:36 GMT13
My 2000 GMC has started to have a very strong odor of natural gas
coming from the front.  If I drive with the windows open even a
little, it comes pouring in.  Windows closed with or w/o the a/c on,
absolutely nothing.  Really weird, it is the *exact* same smell of
First datapoint, new tires experiment15 Aug 2009 05:56 GMT6
My 2001 Silverado C1500 has never gotten over 19 MPG, and 19 was only
once on a long highway trip when I wasn't in a hurry.  Usually it gets
about 15 or 16 in the summer and 11 in the winter. (I think part of the
problem is the oxygenated gas they sell up here doesn't have as ...
