New truck questions09 Oct 2004 00:11 GMT14
I am in the market for my first diesel.  I currently own a 2002 Ram
1500, 360 cid. and have loved everything about it except the fuel
economy.  I have a few questions for those of you that own a Cummins.
I will be purchasing a 4x4, quad cab.
Diesel Surge08 Oct 2004 21:57 GMT3
I've got a 98 diesel that has started to surge between 40-50 mph. Mostly
right at 45 mph. They are brief surges. About 1 second or so. Very annoying.
I think it's dropping out of OD. Does this sound like the TPS (APPS)
syndrome?

dakota - manual transmission gear ratios08 Oct 2004 19:34 GMT15
I have a 1997 Dakota, V6, 5-speed manual transmission.  Can anyone
tell me (a) which transmission this is (does AX-15 sound right?) and
(b) what are the gear ratios are for that unit?
I'm considering ordering a 2005 Dakota with the 6-speed Getrag manual,
Re: 3 speed Dodge Ram Van oil consumption08 Oct 2004 05:35 GMT1
From Nomen Nescio:
Do me a favor and check out your crankcase breather system.  A clogged up
PCV might be your problem.  Temporarily disconnect the tubing from the
rocker cover and drive a few days as a test.  If your oil consumption
Speed Sensor08 Oct 2004 03:31 GMT1
My 99 Durango ABS light came on and then about a week later the speedometer
quit working. I was told that it was probably the speed sensor on the rear
differential gone bad. Who would carry this part beside a Dodge dealership? How
do you take it out?
2005 Dakota disapointment08 Oct 2004 00:25 GMT9
What are everyone's thoughts on the new Dakota? I read that it will not have
the Hemi, since the Hemi wont clear the frame rails without a major
redesign, and the HO v8 is 260HP, not too bad, but its also a bigger truck!
The added length is mainly in the nose with the protruding ...
2005 Dodge Truck Changes?07 Oct 2004 23:22 GMT5
I don't know about Dodge, but GM has taken a few steps backward with
its 2005 Silverado and Sierra 1500-series trucks:
There are 3 differences in standard equipment for 2005:

{Because everybody wants to be a lexicographer &  wordsmith & punner &
time-waster, everybody would thus be vastly uninterested in thrashing this
note.]

What shocks to get07 Oct 2004 18:38 GMT16
I have a 98 Dodge Dakota and was wondering what kind of shocks I should get
(Brand).  I have been told by some that Monroe and Gabriel are 2 of the Best
but I have been told by others that they don't last long.  I also read that
it would be best to buy new OEM shocks from a dealer ...
99 Durango -- what do I need to remove caliper bolt?07 Oct 2004 17:19 GMT7
I'm preparing to do my first brake job -- changing pads and rotors --
on my "new to me" 99 Durango.  A friend thinks they have Torx heads on
the caliper bolt.  Does anyone out there know exactly what I need to
remove the bolt?
Sumptin's up, guys07 Oct 2004 16:10 GMT7
My eldest and I have been seeing several "new" (as in next year's model)
Powerwagons and Jeeps at a closed gas station here in Moab. Well, it was
closed but now it looks like it's for vehicle testing and set up.
I got a close look at license plates on the Jeeps . . . Michigan

I have a 91 Dakota, v6 - 3.9L, 2 wd, automatic with overdrive.  from time to
time it just dies, this can happen while at a light, or 80mph down hwy 75,
or idling in my driveway;  does not bugger about, sputter or anything, just

2002 Grand Caravan blower fan07 Oct 2004 11:11 GMT1
Hope there is someone here who can help.  I have an '02 Grand Caravan ES
with the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC).  The blower/heater fan seems
to be stuck on its highest speed.  Powering off the ATC does not shut off
the fan.  All functions of the ATC operate as they should, ...
Electrical Problems in '01 Ram07 Oct 2004 10:55 GMT3
I have a '01 Ram 5.9 4x4 w/ 104k miles on it, and I have a problem with the
electrical system that I would like some suggestions with (if anybody has
any).  My 'circuit' that controls the following items is not working:
