Transmission problem '98 Durango16 Dec 2004 03:45 GMT1
About a month ago, I noticed that my '98 Durango was racing between second
and third gear, between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm, when it should have shifted
smoothly. Shifting from 1st to 2nd was fine. This problem got worse--racing
before I'd back off on the pedal to let the car shift, ...
97 Dodge  Dakota 5.2 V-8  intermittent idle problem15 Dec 2004 23:59 GMT5
I bought a 97 Dodge Dakota about 4 months ago and had thought it was the
best running truck I had ever owned. In about 3500 miles it has cranked
but would not idle 2 times. You can keep it running and get to garage and
it will run perfect. The check engine light does not come on. ...

I have a 97 Ram 4x4 with a 5.9L 360 that has developed a cold weather
starting problem recently. The engine cranks fine and always tries to
fire on the first few revolutions, but after about three revolutions,
it will not even attempt to fire anymore. To get it started, I have to

WTB rear slider for Dakota15 Dec 2004 13:40 GMT5
Anyone have a factory rear slider for a 2k dakota they want to get rid of? I'll
actually take the center slider piece if the rest is bad... My center class
cracked, and the local junk yards don't have anything that new.

Daimler Chrysler recalls 600,000 Durangos, Dakotas 14 Dec 2004 06:00 GMT9
NOTE: lots of posts dating back to 2000/2001 in alt.autos.dodge.trucks
about premature wear and failure of upper ball joints in
Durango/Dakota.  It's about time DC did something about this.  Problem
is, seems it should include '96-'99 vehicles as well.
Broken Bolt Differential Cover14 Dec 2004 00:37 GMT26
Friends,
    I have a 1996, 1500, PU, 4X4, 5.9L.  It has, what the dealership
calls, a 9 1/4 corporate rear differential.  I was changing the lube
in it and had removed the cover.  As I put the differential cover back

Heater core changeout?13 Dec 2004 19:13 GMT1
99 Ram 1500 Regency conversion van, 360, dual a/c, dual heater cores.
How big a deal is it to replace the front heater core? A casual looking
around makes me think it can be done from the engine side alone, with no
dash pulling required. If I have to pull the glove box, that's not ...
