I have heard it stated from some that the O2 sensors should be changed out at higher mileage even if they are not generating any trouble codes. I would like to hear other's opinions on this.

I have a 2001 Dak 4x4, 4.7L. It used to get better mileage than it does now - I daresay it's topping off at 12 or 14 highway (possibly less, I haven't done an actual measurement), when it was getting 19/20 highway when new.
