book on 5.9 turbo?30 Apr 2007 18:28 GMT1
Got a '97 2500 with diesel.  Picked up a Service Manual, but I'm
disappointed with the coverage of the 5.9 Cummins.  Is there a book
available somewhere that covers the engine only on this year Ram?
Fuel Filters ..... What's the truth?30 Apr 2007 17:03 GMT12
I am approaching 15,000 miles on my Cummins.  Ready for an oil and filter
switch.  Along the way, I have drained the fuel filter about three times now
for water, and not noticing any in the discharge I capture in a plastic jug.
What is the suggested interval for fuel filter ...

Finally got the truck back30 Apr 2007 08:35 GMT2
$1136 to get it completely rebuilt.
It seems there was a lot of heat generated, somehow,  inside the unit which
caused some mechanical damage inside. I still have the parts. (in case
someone wants to see picts)

oil viscosity29 Apr 2007 16:36 GMT55
I just bought a 2001 Ram, 3.9L.  No owners manual.  What is the reccomended
oil viscosity for this time of year?  Is it 5W-30 or 10W-30 or is there any
change with the temperatures?  Thanks.
bed tie-down29 Apr 2007 01:47 GMT17
I've dumped my old plastic bedliner and was thinking about getting a Line-X
sprayed in a '97 2500.  The front tie down points in the bed used to be
covered by a rubber plug -- but this looks somewhat tacky.  Also, I can't
imagine how these plugs would remain functional after a ...
guns on campus28 Apr 2007 16:11 GMT289
Keep in mind that I am one of this places elders.  I can remember back when I
went to college and students openly carried guns.  One physics class the project
was to calculate the speed of a bullet.  To do this a wood 6x6 was hung by two
strings from the ceiling and a line with a ...
spark plugs, or "does something need to be fixed"28 Apr 2007 15:10 GMT5
Got my truck back from the mechanic, they did replace my sparks.  I
asked for one, as a learning tool.  Here's what it looks like:
The outside electrode is a pretty even gray, with just the slightest bit
of yellow speckling on one side.  The tip looks a tad narrower than the

What % tow capacity28 Apr 2007 01:06 GMT46
I have a '06 2500 Quad Cab 4 x 4 and want to get a toy hauler fifth wheel.
I have read that the towing capacity is 13,700#.  I wouldn't want to load it
up with that much trailer and gear because that is approaching capacity.  Is
there a good % to limit your load to so as to leave ...

Anyone have a link to the specs on the new 6.7 CTD powered 2500? Stuff like
who makes the transmission? What rear gears are available? Does the 4X4
front axle still not have locking hubs?

RE47 troubles get strange27 Apr 2007 01:38 GMT12
Talked to shop today. They are still trying to figure out the problem.
They had to put in new clutches. It was modded to hold 4, and said seemed as
though 5 was tried to be put in it.  They were not burned out, but blackened
from severe heat. Indications that this have been going ...
