Motorists Resigned to Soaring Gas Prices05 Apr 2005 14:17 GMT71
This article just reinforced what I've believed for a long time: gas
prices aren't really that high, especially when you consider what gas
cost in 1979 (after inflation adjustments). People just like to bitch
and moan, but when it comes right down to it, they still drive their
Two More MFFY Parkers05 Apr 2005 04:02 GMT9
Here's one I spotted on Friday:

And here's one from yesterday - the pickup truck on the right is
parked straddling the white dividing line between two parking spaces:
GM, Ford sales sag, competition zooms05 Apr 2005 02:54 GMT5
http://money.cnn.com/2005/04/01/news/fortune500/carsales.reut/index.htm
GM and Ford blame high gas prices, but in fact vehicles like
the Altima, the Titan, and the Hemi based Chryslers sell very well.
Why can't Ford or GM face the fact that they are losing market share
Geezer Fails to Yield to Emergency Vehicles, Gets T-Boned04 Apr 2005 21:16 GMT16
Here we have another example of an incompetent elderly driver causing
a collision. This geezer, apparently both blind and deaf, pulled right
out in front of an oncoming sheriff's cruiser and got T-boned. The
deputy had his siren on, but this geezer failed to yield. Fortunately,
15 year veteran cop suspended for 16 days04 Apr 2005 19:07 GMT21
This is not nearly as bad as the case of Trooper Peasely, yet no
mention of the policeman's union whining about the suspension.

Goldman Sachs said that the oil market may be

which could push prices as high as $105 a barrel.
Respond to this Tirade04 Apr 2005 07:43 GMT4
Here's a rant I found on another automotive forum. I'm interested in
your reaction and comments.

Speed camera tickets - are coming04 Apr 2005 03:34 GMT5
There's a new law moving thru the CA legislature, to allow speed camera
tickets from mobile vans or autos. It is Senate Bill 466, sponsored by
Sheila Kuehl of Santa Monica.
For more details about it (and how to stop the bill), have a look at the

Confused Old Geezer Causes Multicar Crash, Closes Major Freeway for Hours03 Apr 2005 18:20 GMT5
The article doesn't mention the driver's age, but how many civillians
under the age of 55 drive Crown Victorias? Clearly the driver was some
confused old buffoon who was well past his expiration date and should
never have been behind the wheel. Looks like he took his wife with
Red Light Cameras Can Be a Good Thing03 Apr 2005 16:05 GMT20
Yesterday I'm sitting at the head of the line at a red light in a
neighborhood, waiting to turn right.  One lane for each direction.  I see
the light turn yellow and as always I right and left to see if anyone will
try and run the light.  Sure enough!
Companies shorten the yellow phase so more drivers will be caught running the red light.03 Apr 2005 05:10 GMT3
Some red-light cameras are employed as safety devices. We have a few
here at historically-dangerous intersections, and they have helped.
However, in the more typical situation, the company that makes the
camera system approaches a local government and makes them an offer
Auto insurance: Seattle vs. Los Angeles and BI vs. PD03 Apr 2005 00:46 GMT5
Recently, I moved from Los Angeles to Seattle.  One thing
I expected was a big cut in my auto insurance.  So I called my
insurance company (AAA).  Here is the quote (for 1 year) I got:
Bodily Injury Liability (BI)    $100K/$300K    $383
