Route 14U sign27 Apr 2005 15:53 GMT3
I noticed on Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita a standard California state
route sign, but this one said route "14U". (It's at the intersection with
Rainbow Glen.) It's apparently because this bit of the Sierra Highway is
unrelinquished, which is what the U stands for. I've never ...

Although U-turns are legal in CA, in most cases the signs limit
drivers to making U-turns from only the leftmost left turn lane, and
for good reason: if the car to your left isn't also making a U-turn,
you'd have to cross his path in order to complete your U-turn. But
SUV Driver Shot26 Apr 2005 19:28 GMT28
KTLA reports that someone in a purple sedan shot the driver of a black
SUV, seriously wounding him. Witnesses say the motive may have been an
improper lane change on the part of the SUV driver.

Speeding sucks26 Apr 2005 18:12 GMT201
It's bad because it makes getting into turn lanes hard.   I was driving
home today around rush hour, and on this one road close to home everybody
was doing 45 mph in a 35 mph zone.   And everybody was in the left lane too,
the right lane only had a few cars.  I kept looking for ...

Are there call boxes on I-5 California in Fresno, Kings, and Kern
counties?  A picture on westcoastroads.com indicates that they end in
Merced county.

- drivers who unnecessarily brake when there is no
chance of a collision by someone cutting across their path well ahead of
them
- drivers who do something totally illegal and stupid and then look at you
Put it in Park, and ALWAYS Set the Parking Brake!26 Apr 2005 00:12 GMT27
KTLA's Bill Smith (the Science Myth) is reporting on a mother in
Upland who stopped her car in the driveway to get the mail from her
streetside mailbox, leaving her 5-year-old inside. The car started to
roll, so Mommie runs after it, attempting to jump inside and bring it
"Minor" car accident, questions on possible injury25 Apr 2005 21:35 GMT7
I was rear-ended four days ago, while standing still at a light.  I was
hit from behind, which forced me into the car in front of me, so it was
a kind of double-whiplash effect.  I'm guessing the guy hit me at about
20 mph -- maybe 30?  There was significant bumper damage to the ...

Good Chevy/GM products?25 Apr 2005 04:52 GMT56
Let's say that hypothetically one were considering taking a job where
one would be doing a lot of driving, and one also received a company car
with the deal.  Said company is partial to Chevys.  Are any of them any
better than the rest?  (yeah, I know about the Z06.  I don't ...
