I noticed on Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita a standard California state
route sign, but this one said route "14U". (It's at the intersection with
Rainbow Glen.) It's apparently because this bit of the Sierra Highway is

Although U-turns are legal in CA, in most cases the signs limit
drivers to making U-turns from only the leftmost left turn lane, and
for good reason: if the car to your left isn't also making a U-turn,
you'd have to cross his path in order to complete your U-turn. But

KTLA reports that someone in a purple sedan shot the driver of a black
SUV, seriously wounding him. Witnesses say the motive may have been an
improper lane change on the part of the SUV driver.
This is the third freeway shooting incident in the LA area in recent

   It's bad because it makes getting into turn lanes hard.   I was driving
home today around rush hour, and on this one road close to home everybody
was doing 45 mph in a 35 mph zone.   And everybody was in the left lane too,

I was a New York tourist driving a rented car northbound on highway 5
at Fort Tejon, county of kern, lamont branch.
I saw a white SUV, sirens and body with green trim(it said Sheriff's
Dept or something or rather after it passed me, can anyone verify

- drivers who unnecessarily brake when there is no
