American Car Makes22 Jun 2005 05:06 GMT129
American auto makers can take apart and study in detail the
competitions' cars. They know exactly how the top sellers and reliable
cars are built, right down to the screws. They know how they perform on
their test tracks. They know what look is selling.
Used Jetta OBD Failed22 Jun 2005 01:09 GMT1
I just bought a used VW Jetta without a warranty. My bad.  I go to get
a state inspection and the dealer tells me the OBD system isn't
responding.  Maybe he can fix it, maybe he can't.  My question is if he
can't fix it, does anyone know if New York State has any leeway to
Face it, you deadly speeders. The honor system does not work22 Jun 2005 01:08 GMT64
Handing out fines for speeding is a joke. These deadly criminals will
continue to kill and maim until they are faced with severe penalties
for their crime. Anyone caught exceeding the SL by 20 mph or more
should do some jail time and then a DL suspension.  LET'S STOP THE

Friday, June 17, 2005,  8:44:36 PM
(Iowa City KCRG) -- If you're driving five miles per hour over the
speed limit, you probably won't get a ticket. But 75 miles per hour
BS or not BS?21 Jun 2005 21:20 GMT15
My local oil changing shop is all in a dither.  Why?  Seems I'm overdue
for "Pure Power Plus," a treatment where they fill my gas tank with some
kind of Drano and clean the fuel injectors, blowing deposits, soot and
resident squatters out my tailpipe.  My car is running fine.  ...
8-time DWI finally gets life in prison21 Jun 2005 21:13 GMT63
This should have been done after his 3rd offense. Too much goddam
criminal coddling. Drunk drivers are killers and maimers.

What you do you think is the right punishment for a drunk driver?

SR-22 Insurance question..21 Jun 2005 15:13 GMT1
So I live in Colorado, I was convicted of a DUI (something I am not
proud of, by any means), and lost my license for a year. Now, I am able
to get my license back, I have a vehicle, but apparently I need that

Ford does it *again* (more fires)21 Jun 2005 03:08 GMT28
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/16/ford.vehicles/index.html
I'd say it's unbelievable, but it's not. Ford's got a long and, uh,
glowing track record of this kind of stupid sh.t. What's novel about this
one is the cause: this time it's not poorly-designed alternators or
On Being "Lady Driven"20 Jun 2005 22:39 GMT4
I take a shuttle bus between the train station and my office. A new
driver started this week - a lady who appears to be in her 30s. Her
driving style is, shall we say, "interesting." She does things like

Is google censoring posts again?20 Jun 2005 03:34 GMT14
All of  a sudden google is only showing a few posts for each day at RAD
and whole threads have disappeared though they still exist on usenet.
Google is run by a bunch of car-psychos who think using highway
vehicles to kill and maim innocent people is cool and they won't

Ran off the road by a truck - Considerations for making a claim?19 Jun 2005 22:34 GMT24
I am a Southern California motorist who recently had an accident, but
have been warned by friends that if I make a claim, the insurance
company might scrutinize that I was somehow at fault, and may even try
to push to have points put on my license because it is my
