Objects hanging from rear view mirror may be legaler than they appear31 Jul 2005 03:03 GMT39
Many police in Massachusetts consider any object hanging from a rear
view mirror to be an excuse to stop a car.  The state Appeals Court
overruled that policy this week, finding that the state law does not
unconditionally prohibit hanging objects.  The judges wrote: "Indeed,
Finally!30 Jul 2005 00:08 GMT16
They are finally replacing all the crappy concrete highways which have
plagued our city (Richmond VA) for decades with asphalt!  I am sure someone
must have blown someone to have gotten that horrible concrete sh.t put down
in the first place.

Who Says Cars Aren't an Investment?29 Jul 2005 20:11 GMT120
The KTLA Morning News reports that *used* Toyota Priuses are selling
for as much or more than new ones. One apparently sold for $31,000.
Maybe I'll buy a Prius or two for MSRP and auction them off on eBay
for a quick profit...
British traffic signal lights29 Jul 2005 15:00 GMT72
On TV news footage from London today I noticed something unusual about
the traffic lights. A couple times I saw the lights change from red
and yellow (both illuminated) to green. I have never seen such a thing
here in the States. What does simultaneous red and yellow mean in
Drunk jet pilots get 2 1/2 and 5 years in prison28 Jul 2005 21:04 GMT344
This is great but why don't we take the same attitude with drunk

convictions for DUI?

I Wish There Were More Cops Like Bill Goldberg!28 Jul 2005 20:21 GMT4
Today's episode of "Automaniac" on the History Channel featured police
cars. In the last segment, the host, driving a Crown Vic, pulls a
driver over and gives him a ticket for driving 15 MPH *below* the
speed limit.
Damn Speed Cameras...28 Jul 2005 19:52 GMT2
So, guess who got flashed by a speed camera yesterday. The question
remains whether it's something for me to worrying about. After all, the
truck is registered to the company and its HQ is 200 miles away... I'll
only be working for them another month anyway, and with a little ...
CHP Drive-Through28 Jul 2005 09:14 GMT3
[This is a repost. I had a brain fart (or not enough coffee) this
morning and posted the original to the wrong newsgroup.]
The KTLA Morning News showed an unusual police chase video this
morning: a CHP unit which was pursuing a suspect, lost control, and
Fireworks, Kids, and the Angry Driver28 Jul 2005 01:52 GMT73
This story appeared in today's NY Times/AP News online.  It's not the first
time drivers have been threatened by fireworks shot by unsupervised kids.
I've had fireworks shot at my car too but didn't chase down the kids.

Observed from my shuttle bus window yesterday morning:
A white Scion Xa, with a young 20something female behind the wheel,
pulls up next to the bus. This chick is hip - she has a Blackberry
perched on the center of her sterring wheel; her right thumb is busily
