86 Year old goes on killing rampage in santa monica16 Jul 2005 05:00 GMT13
An 86 year old man with an assault car went on a killing
rampage in Santa Monica today.
How much longer are we going to allow these assault car nuts
to kill children?

A two lane road, the right / through lane is backed up at the light
about 1/2 mile.  The left lane ends at the light with left-only
arrows, and has no cars in it.
As I wait in the through lane for my turn through the light, I see

On the news today - cameras in construction zones, and tickets to be
mailed to all drivers who drive through the area.
Makes sense if you think about how every driver speeds through these
areas, as to do the speed limit would get you killed.

Incredibly Stupid & Criminal Pedestrian (Long)14 Jul 2005 22:44 GMT63
Sorry that this is such a long winded story, but I wanted to give all
the details I could in the hopes that someone else with more experience
in these matters can comment. I also hope not too many other people
have had the experience that I just had this afternoon while driving
right-on-red stress14 Jul 2005 21:28 GMT46
I'm in a new town. I don't feel comfortable turning right-on-red with
the amount of traffic. Most of these types of intersections are marked
"no right turn on red" where I'm from and it just seems bad to gun the
gas on red to save a few seconds. It would be too easy to miss a
The increasing stress of driving14 Jul 2005 05:49 GMT17
I'm very frustrated by the number of driving days that require the use
of rapid deceleration, evasive action, and rapid acceleration to avoid a
secondary incident.  I've had more than 100 incidents within the past
month, and I've noticed that it has taken my driving to the border ...

No, this didn't happen to me - I found it on another forum.
Basically he was parked at a Dairy Queen when two SUVs came and parked
on either side of him, and BOTH opened their doors and smacked into
a.shole de jour14 Jul 2005 05:49 GMT24
this just happened not 10 minutes ago and I am PISSED!  I was coming
home and getting off at my exit from the freeway... this exit is kind
of like a cloverleaf in that the onramp from the previous exit turns
into the offramp for my exit, but it's like 3/4 mile long.  Anyway

Fix-it exhaust ticket in Virginia?12 Jul 2005 22:10 GMT9
Got a call from the girlie this AM... apparently she got pulled over
over the weekend and got a ticket in Fairfax County for a loud exhaust.
Fair enough, it is pretty loud.*  Question is this - from her
description of the ticket and the statute she is accused of violating,
Wanna-be Cops12 Jul 2005 21:50 GMT20
Can someone explain this mentality that I occasionally see of a guy
trying to trick out his car to look like a cop car?  Usually it's pure
white, no markings, no hubcabs, lots of antennas, the spotlights by the
side view mirrors driving a Crown Vic.
fighting a parking ticket and registering my car in CA12 Jul 2005 21:47 GMT5
I got a street sweeping parking ticket. I really can't afford the $45.
If I just deny the car was there, what chance do I have of winning?
This was in LA.
Also, I moved to California about 6 months ago. I have one moving
