| Speeding ticket question | 30 Sep 2005 23:43 GMT | 54 |
All: Is there any practical chance of getting a speeding ticket dismissed for the fact that the officer wrote down the wrong vehicle and VIN on the ticket? Didn't just slip a digit, but *entirely* wrong VIN.

| hybrid car? | 30 Sep 2005 14:16 GMT | 1 |
Is it a hype or real? They advertise over 44MPG but my impression is the those cars use gasoline engine on the highway anyway. Or do they have 3 cylinders engines vs, the normal 4? I can see it save gas in city because the wasted energy while idling would be stored in the battery ...

Still think that what I saw on the gas pump was some kind of dream in a Dali-esque sort of way: Regular Unleaded: $2.999/gal Plus Unleaded: $2.789/gal

| Man Dies in Fiery Crash | 30 Sep 2005 09:17 GMT | 5 |
This incident caused a MAJOR traffic snarl during the morning rush yesterday. The Barranca overpass of the 5 freeway was completely closed with yellow police tape. The freeway itself came to a complete stop just past the 133 off-ramp; Barranca and Irvine Center Drive had

| How about tax breaks for people who don't drive? | 30 Sep 2005 04:18 GMT | 67 |
If you're over 21 and don't have a drivers license, no taxes for you. Of course we'd have to supplement such a law with prison time for those who drive without a license, but then that should be the case anyway.

| On (and around) the Road in Germany | 30 Sep 2005 01:12 GMT | 19 |
It's always nice to be reminded that one is sane in practice, not just in theory. I'm in Germany for the International Symposium on Automotive Lighting and some related meetings, and, surprise of surprises: -Road signs show up just fine and pedestrians show up better, even with

| Hypothetical Q-- who's liable in this accident situation? | 30 Sep 2005 00:45 GMT | 6 |
I was commuting to work on Route 9 West in MA today, it's 2 lanes each direction and I was going about 45 mph in the L lane.. Up ahead were 2 vehicles in the narrow U-turn lane between the Eastbound/Westbound lanes; one car pulled into traffic about 300 feet ahead of me, which

| Impact of obesity on national fuel economy | 30 Sep 2005 00:40 GMT | 6 |
One can't help but be aware of the number of fat people waddling around these days. Its a real tribute to industrial cuisine. What I would like to know is just how many millions of barrels of oil is being used to just accelerate this extra lard mass.

| new pet peeve | 29 Sep 2005 22:47 GMT | 19 |
I've been seeing this alot in my area lately and it's becoming a new major pet peeve. Cop pulls somebody over in the burbs, and the car pulls over and stops in the middle of a turn lane. What really jerks my chain is that the cop always stops behind the person and proceeds to ...
