help! 1997 Hyundai Accent, gear grinding27 Dec 2005 22:50 GMT2
I just bought a 1997 Hyundai Accent (5 speed/manual trans, 136k miles)
and it's got a few kinks (as I expected, with that many miles). I'd
like to have a better idea of what's going on before heading to the
mechanic, although that's coming up soon.

Is Seattle a bad place for driving?27 Dec 2005 09:08 GMT9
Downtown Seattle has a live railroad track that runs through downtown.
It's also got steep hills like San Francisco.  In some places you are
required to back up into an on street parking spot with meter.  Is
Seattle an unfriendly city?  Are the people all mean with big city
Renting 300C, Magnum or Charger27 Dec 2005 08:20 GMT26
How do I rent a 300C, Magnum or Charger? Want to test drive... and,
yes, I know, fleet vehicles are anemically powered, but it's the rest
of the vehicle I'm interested in.
Want to know which agencies rent them, and how to maximize my chances

Smart Move by LAFD Driver26 Dec 2005 19:50 GMT8
I just witnessed a smart move by a driver of an emergency vehicle of the Los Angeles (City) Fire
Department.
While responding to an emergency call, he was exiting the freeway (US 101 at Van Nuys Blvd. in
Sherman Oaks) at a 3-lane offramp (left-only, option left/straight/right, ...
MPG INCREASE UP TO 35% PLUS WITH THIS PRODUCT...26 Dec 2005 09:52 GMT6
This is one person's testimony:
I drive a 2005 Toyota Solora.  I normally get 22 mpg in the city.  On
my last fill up using the powder, I got 33.2 mpg in the city!!  I love
the powder, and wouldn't be without it!  Also, I always have to fill up
Speaking of the DMV...26 Dec 2005 02:50 GMT13
DMV "appointments" have always been bullshit. From the beginning
they've been like doctor's appointments: you show up at the appointed
time, only to sit in the waiting room because the doctor either
overbooked or is running behind.
KLASP - Keep Left And Stop Pedalphiles25 Dec 2005 04:00 GMT89
Don't let the speeding pedalphiles on our highways kill or maim anyone
in your family.  Get in that left lane, take it up to exactly the speed
limit and stay there. Force the killer speeders to obey the law and
protect your children at the same time.
Did Things Just Get Better or Worse?24 Dec 2005 05:40 GMT13
Curt the Cyberguy (KTLA and WGN's technology reporter) just did a
report on a new service that downloads live feeds from CalTrans
cameras and automatically displays them to you on your cell phone
while you're driving. So now drivers will have yet another reason to

WTF is a "Report of Deposit of Fees?"23 Dec 2005 15:50 GMT8
Last January I bought a new car. I have yet to receive the usual
registration renewal forms in the mail; instead, I received a letter
from the DMV which says "Report of Deposit of Fees" which tells me I
need to pay $X to register my car.
41% of crashes occur on Corners23 Dec 2005 07:36 GMT8
In my area is a "deadly stretch of road". To try and reduce the road
toll, they put up signs with various interesting messages.
Today, one of those signs said "41% of crashes occur on Corners".
But I don't see how that is supposed to help.
