Making the Right Call15 Apr 2006 17:31 GMT5
Here's an interesting little story. First and foremost, I'm not sure I
understand why a woman who called 911 to report a traffic collision is
newsworthy. Surely this happens hundreds of times a day? The story
even admits that at least one other person also called 911 to report
Speed-Related Crash With a Happy Ending15 Apr 2006 05:00 GMT11
While I'm the first to admit that Tucson's speed limits are
ridiculously low, even I agree that 81 MPH is excessive for a Tucson
surface street. If you define "speed-related crash" as a crash that
occurs because the driver was exceeding the limits of both her vehicle

What happened to Hwy. 80/Davis last night?15 Apr 2006 00:16 GMT1
I was traveling from the East Bay to Placer County last night.  Hwy. 80 was
closed for 4-5 hours and no entry to the Sacramento Valley was available
for a while.  I heard that a truck jack knifed at Chiles Road in Davis.
'Went to the Sacramento Bee online to attempt to find out why ...
Arrogant MFFY Gets His Come-Uppance14 Apr 2006 23:40 GMT42
One of the things you see a lot in SoCal is people who rendez-vouz in
a semi-public place, park one of their vehicles in the parking lot,
and then all climb into the other vehicle to go somewhere. Several
hours later, after they're done banging or getting stoned or whatever,

Indiana traffic cops out of control14 Apr 2006 18:29 GMT10
Today, driving south to Bloomington from Indy on IN37,
just north of Bloomington there was a cop running radar
from a beige Ford Taurus (!!) parked on the median,
and within the city of Bloomington, just after the IN37

Today I saw one of the Future Darwin Award Winners of America. As I
was leaving my office this evening, there were a couple of kids riding
around the parking lot on some funky kind of inline skateboards (they
looked brand new and very expensive). As I drove toward the exit I
Am I MIssing Something?14 Apr 2006 13:33 GMT1
So I've pretty much decided to get a FasTrak transponder, thanks to a
miserable experience on the 91 freeway yesterday.
I'm a highly occasional user of the toll roads. I live and work in the
same city, and I usually commute by train; even when I drive I don't
DUI who killed 3 people gets 25 years in prison14 Apr 2006 11:11 GMT8
25 years is significant but it's not enough. The monster had two
priors and should be locked up forever. Drunk drivers never stop.

What Does It Take?13 Apr 2006 10:51 GMT3
About a year ago I witnessed a young DAB rear-end a truck while messing
with a CD. The CD broke and pierced her hand.
This morning while waiting for a walk light, a car rear-ended a vehicle
that stopped for the traffic signal. It was the same DAB that had reared
A New Entry for the Sloth Glossary: The -5 Sloth13 Apr 2006 06:08 GMT21
Here's an as-yet-unnamed subcategory of Sloth: the -5 Sloth. The -5
Sloth drives around everywhere at 5 MPH below the posted speed limit.
Unlike other kinds of Sloths which are generally oblivious to their
surroundings, the -5 Sloth is aware of what the speed limit is - it

Driving through US with temporary car registration..12 Apr 2006 13:07 GMT5
I'll be buying a car in another province in Canada and driving it
back through the U.S. to my home province with a temporary registration
permit.  This means that the car will not have any plates in place and
will only have a temporary paper permit placed on the front window.
