Well, today was a good day.  First of all, I got a flat tire yesterday
in the company beater, too late in the day to get it fixed.  You'd
*think* that would be bad, but it was actually a good thing.  I just
borrowed a company truck to get home/back to work, dropped the car off

This afternoon I saw a 20-something girl in a red Corolla S pull up
behind me at a stoplight. While I watched in my rear-view mirror, she
proceeded to reach for a CD and LICK THE PLAYING SURFACE WITH HER
TONGUE like a cat, then wipe it off onto her pants. She repeated this

Having been a left-coaster for the last 14 years, I'm going to be
driving on I-95 for the first time in a long time.  Is the speed limit
in the NY area still 55?  If so, I'm going to have to train myself to
adjust--out here you can blow past CHP doing 75 and they don't care.

Just got my DL renewal form in the mail. Among the other things noted
was that I had a choice of renewal periods: 5 years or 10 years. No need
to show up in person or take an eye exam. Just attest that my
health/vision have not significantly degraded since the last renewal

The state govt has shut down due to the budget crisis so it would appear
the  State HP has been reduced. Presumably city cops are still enforcing
traffic laws in the cities.
